It's all over the flist, I couldn't not post it!

Comment with any ship (romantic or platonic or maybe even non-existent!) from a fandom that I am or have been been involved with, and I will rant about aforementioned ship. This may be incoherent gushing or exclamations of disgust, depending on your ship of choice.

Two other points:

1. Saw Pirates 4 today! And it was a lot better than I thought it would be! I really benefited from being free of all the entangled subplots of the last two movies and starting fairly fresh. And also Penelope Cruz was fantastic and I don't know why she wasn't in all the movies. And I have some spoilery thoughts but they'll have to wait till tomorrow when by some chance I may have caught up on comments or something.

2. Have been keeping TGWTG reviews on as I work for background sound, and in light of the recent crossovers I am discovering another reason why I love Phelous so much: he's basically the No Sell of the cast. People keep trying to construct plot threads and events and tie-ins around him, and no matter how dangerous or eventful said plot thread is it loses power simply because he ignores it. If he weren't already a Time Lord I would want to write a fic where he's a part of a different Lantern Corps whose rings are powered by skepticism.

So I have got to cut myself off from this cracky character-number meme because it's taking up time that I'm supposed to be using for my essays. Posting the answers I have come up with so far seems a good way to tell myself to stop. I will answer the questions in installments because my answers tend to get stupidly long and if I try to answer them all before I post them I will never get them all done.

You can still ask questions if you like (more crack is good for everyone!), but if you do please do so before you read these answers, because it's kind of spoiled if you know who's who.

Questions answered: Four. Fandoms represented: Doctor Who, Final Fantasy X, NCIS, Iron Man movieverse, Tranformers Animated, Star Trek Reboot, Pirates of the Caribbean, ReBoot, and Bones. I've noted which character goes with which fandom to ease confusion.

Two of these questions take up four pages, ack. )

Almost done with project. Almost done with project. Oh my god it's five in the morning.

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] futuresoon :

1. Write down the names of 10 characters.
2. Write a fic of fifteenish words or less for every prompt, using the characters determined by the numbers. Do NOT read the prompts before you do step 1.

1. Abby Sciuto (NCIS)
2. Polly Wright (Doctor Who)
3. Temperance Brennan (Bones)
4. Ryan Wolfe (CSI: Miami)
5. Tim McGee (NCIS)
6. Liz Shaw (Doctor Who)
7. Will Turner (Pirates of the Caribbean)
8. Captain Christopher Pike (NuTrek)
9. Wendy Watson (Middleman)
10. Nick Stokes (CSI)

Hey, look, stories. )

Isn't it always, though?

Anyway, publicly musing about my fic provides good incentive to actually get it done, since I completed the rough version of the first ficlet in that collection I talked about in the last entry whilst on my lunch break. I'm sure the inspiring conversations that I can engage in with you wonderful folk have something to do with it. :)

Anyway, bear in mind that this is the rough version - I am, as always, not entirely satisfied with it, and will probably continue to edit it for a week or so. Comments, critiques, and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.

[EDIT] Oh, crap. The text appeared black-on-black again. It does this sometimes, and I don't know why, and I'm too tired to fix it right now, so I'll have to ask you all to just highlight it for now.

Having a black background is way more trouble than it's worth.

In keeping with the Shower Law*, now that work has begun in earnest and I actually have things that I'm supposed to do (which I had finished when I started this journal, don't look at me like that), the plot bunnies have come out in force, displaying themselves on whatever scrap of paper I happen to have handy. Of course, plot bunnies being their half-formed and temperamental selves, only three of these ideas have actually reached fruition, and those were all drabbles. Drabbles that I plan on expanding, but still.

Puts me in mind of that Pink Floyd song; "wave upon wave of avengers marching cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream", or something like that. I just know I've got that wrong.

Anyway, of these bunnies, the vast majority thus far have been of the species Piratus Caribbeanum, and as many have  followed roughly the same theme, I am led to contemplate the following...

WARNING: The following discussion may contain mild At World's End spoilers.

*The Shower Law states that your best ideas will always come to you at a time when you cannot or should not be writing them, such as while showering, while at work,  while you should be sleeping, etc.

Before I begin...

Rest in Peace, Jamie. You had so much to offer to the world, and you were taken away far too soon. We'll miss you.

-----

So, I finally finished up the Pirates 3 review, but I'm not quite finished with some of the more analytical character ramblings that I come across late at night and early in the morning. Those will come later. As I was going to do with my review for CSI “The Good, The Bad, and the Dominatrix” before I lost my ability to write more than 500 words at a time, I’ve decided to do the Pirates 3 review as two bulleted lists: Want and Do Not Want.

As evidenced by the fact that my “Want” list is substantially longer than my “Do Not Want” list, I still really enjoyed this movie. While it didn’t quite live up to the first movie, it was still a spectacular closer to the series after a weak middle chapter. At World’s End was the realization of everything that Dead Man’s Chest promised, and without all the prep time that the second movie required, the third could be nothing but pure, exciting, explosive results.
