First, a pimp: [profile] the_randomiser, a new community dedicated to writing challenges based on the Doctor Who Random Pairing Generator. Go take a few hits off the crackpipe, luv. :D

Also, wasn't there a random pairing generator for the CSI-verse? Or am I misremembering? If there was, would anyone care to tell me where it happens to be?

I have my homework done on time, I have everything packed, it's looking like I might finally get some sleep...and then I stay up late writing.

I also blame my writing for how badly I did on that take-home Bio quiz. How was I supposed to answer questions in my distracted state?

So I might as well post what it was that kept me up this late, right? Right.

The 250-word Writing Meme, shamelessly thieved from [personal profile] eponymous_rose.

The rules!

1. There are no rules. (Yay!)
2. Pick five fandoms.  List them in alphabetical order.

1. CSI: Las Vegas
2. CSI: Miami
3. CSI: New York
4. Doctor Who (old and new)
5. Law & Order (TOS)

3. Visit this site to find your first RANDOM POEM OF POWER.  Write down the 5th line (yes, even if it's an E.E. Cummings poem and you wind up with an apostrophe).  Repeat five times and - you guessed it - list 'em in alphabetical order!

4. I think you can see where this is going.  Write a very quick 50-word half-drabble for each fandom (try to do it all in one sitting - make your brain explode!), using the line from the poem as a prompt.  You don't have to include it in the half-drabble - it's just inspiration.

5. Bravo!  Have a cookie.

Oh, I SO did it. I didn't think I could but I did it.

Granted, it's only the first chapter, and only 700-ish words. And it's unbetaed. And I'm not sure if it works at all. And it was way harder to write than it should have been, because I had to spend weeks thinking up the particulars of the case and how it would end before I could even put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard, as it were). And it turns out I'm crap at casefiles. And Don Flack has joined Lennie Briscoe, John Munch, and Bobby Goren as Characters Who I Cannot Write For To Save My Sorry Life.

But I did it. I have here the first part of a CSI: NY casefile. Right on time. And at some point, I intend to actually finish it.

Teh yay.

Written for  [personal profile] karaokegal's Come As You're Not Halloween Fic Costume Party.

Title: Perfects (Chapter 1)
Fandom: CSI: NY
Characters or Pairing: All Characters (including Sid, Peyton, and Angell); no pairings
Rating: PG-13 for violence. Also, my character said a swear.
Word Count: 729 (first chapter only)
Summary: The victims are unrelated. The MOs are identical. The crime scenes are perfect. The New York CSIs have no leads, no evidence, and no way to know when the murders will begin again.
Notes for warnings, spoilers, loving on your Beta, etc.: No specific spoilers, but takes place early Season 3
AND MOST IMPORTANT:
Why it’s a costume: Because I've never written a casefile before in my life. And I very rarely write CSI: NY. And I rarely write pure gen. And it's multi-chapter, where I prefer one-shots or collections thereof.

...I'm thinking this'll be the last time for a while that I pull out the page-and-a-half reviews, seeing as these took FOREVER.

Maybe now I can do some actual work.

These were typed as I watched; as such they do not form the most coherent or thorough review in the world. Full review coming after I've gotten some sleep.

I figure, now that the trailers for my fall shows are starting to hit the web, I should at least make the effort to take a look-see.

The following commentaries may contain spoilers for SVU Season 9 and CSI: NY Season 4.

And that’s all for now. Coming up next on Trailer Talk: House, CI, and L&O, so soon as I can find them.

No, I won’t be commenting on the Vegas trailer, as I’ve decided to go the completely spoiler-free route this season. Nor will I be commenting on the Miami trailer. I’m too busy trying to will the Miami premiere out of existence with the powers of my mind alone.

The DVD covers for CSI Season 7, CSI: Miami Season 5, and CSI: New York Season 3 have just hit the intarwebs. (And I shall link you to those images, yea, when I am not at work.)

The CSI S7 DVD has a close-up of Grissom and Catherine.

The CSI: Miami S5 DVD has a close-up of Horatio, since Calleigh was busy rescuing Alexx from Neglected Character Land and couldn't make her photo shoot. Or something.

The CSI: NY S3 DVD has a close-up of Mac and Stella (which admittedly looks very cool with the blue and red lighting).

Notice a pattern?

LOL HAI. THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE ON THESE SHOWS YOU GUYS.

Also, if there is no commentary on "No Man's Land", "Burned", "Monster in a Box", and "Living Doll", I shall be very, very sad.

Now where be my new Law and Order DVDs?

"Brief" is in sarcastic quotes for a reason.

House, "House Training"

*wibble* )

-----
CSI, "Ending Happy" (or "Happy Ending"? I've heard both.)

-----
CSI: Miami, "Burned"

-----
Law and Order: SVU, "Florida"

-----
CSI: NY, "Cold Reveal"

-----
Next up: CSI, "Leaping Lizards"; CSI:Miami, "Kill Switch"; SVU, "Annihilation"; possibly NY and Vegas if I don't finish in time.

I should do some actual work now.

Mildly sad.

Taking a quick break from studying for Bio and Spanish and pondering my next-semester schedule to post commentary on CSI: NY and Vegas. Replies to various journals and old comments shall come later at night, when the procrastination begins in earnest.

CSI: NY, “What Schemes May Come”

Pretty good episode, all in all. A solid, complex A case, good character interaction all around, and plenty of Flack. My only complaint is that the B case suffered from a surfeit of BS.

By BS, here, I of course mean Bad Science.

And now to CSI, "Lab Rats"

Could we just excise all portions of this episode in which Hodges acted like a twelve-year-old? Because if it hadn’t been for those, this episode would have been probably the most fun I’ve had with CSI in a while. Seriously. I don’t normally spend the majority of a CSI episode doubled over in helpless laughter, but this did it for me.

Back to studying. Also, ff.net is STILL not functioning. I am displeased.

[EDIT] A side note: How have I lived this long without the Almost Totally Random Pairing Generator? Oh man. I could waste hours with this thing. Actually, I think I already have. And it's provoked everything from roommate-disturbing laughter to "Oh sweet merciful Lord my EYES!"

Oh, the blissful havoc I will wreck with this.
