It's still the 9th for ten whole minutes dammit.

Anyway, this is the first day of my [livejournal.com profile] womenlovefest weeklong Miko Nakadai love-a-thon, and I decided I would put together a quick little ficlet based on an idea I'd been tossing around. Perhaps something that takes a little more time tomorrow? A picspam or some icons?

Title: The Beast That Shouted "I" At the Heart of the World
Fandom: Transformers: Prime
Characters: Miko Nakadai
Rating: G
Word Count: 560
Content Advisories: Spoilers for "One Shall Fall", and speculation for the following episodes.
Summary: She's never been able to recapture that feeling. Not till now.
Notes: Written for the first day of the week-long [livejournal.com profile] womenlovefest. Title shamelessly nicked from the final episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion, though this hopefully won't be nearly as confusing. Not betaed; so sorry. :(

I should get a TF: Prime icon if I'm going to be ficcing it, I suppose.

And yes, replies were on hold until I finished this thing.

So I finally decided I should stop dithering and post this, in yet another misguided hope of getting myself to write something. I keep almost writing! And then not doing anything or getting distracted. It's very discouraging.

Title: No Victims Only Volunteers
Chapter: 1/?
Fandom: Transformers: Animated
Characters/Pairings: Blurr-centric, with appearances by Ultra Magnus, Alpha Trion, Perceptor, Wheeljack, Sentinel Prime, and possibly others
Rating: PG-13
Content Advisories: References violence, debilitating injuries, and physical and psychological trauma.
Summary: There is a way back, but it winds through all the dark and narrow places. My take on a "Blurr survives" fic.
Word Count (this chapter): 1861
Notes: Title comes from the song "New Babies; New Toys" by OMD. And yes, it's still a WIP. I'm slow that way.

I've been thinking about maybe following [livejournal.com profile] pixxistixx4me [livejournal.com profile] pixxistix4me in producing 50 things this New Year - be they stories, crafts, whatever - so maybe that'll help me write some more too. I've been busy, is part of the problem.

But for now it's high time for bed.

Because when you have a doctor's appointment in the morning and homework due on Tuesday the thing to do is stay up until 2:30 a.m. writing fic. Clearly. [ETA] And then stay up until 3:00 a.m. having internet-connection problems because I'm finished, darnit, I want to post it right now. Phooey. [SON OF ETA] And then staying up till 3:30 trying to fix it until it finally craps out and you just stayed up way too late for nothing, congratulations.

It does puzzle me somewhat that everything I've written for TFA has been so very fluffy, but I suppose fluff is generally shorter whereas angst, drama, or any other genre takes time, dedication, and the ability to come up with an actual plot. Also I'm a complete sucker for The Big Robot Family so perhaps this is not so puzzling as it seems.

Title: The Sound of Travel and the Engine
Fandom: Transformers: Animated
Characters: Optimus Prime, Sari
Rating: G
Summary: Optimus helps Sari adjust to Cybertron any way he can.
Word Count: 820
Notes: Post-series; spoilers as such. Title comes from R.E.M.'s "You Are The Everything", which is kind of what this fic is inspired by. So that should give you a clue as to the mood, then.

Now let's see if my internet works long enough to post this so I can go to bed.
stunt_muppet: (nom nom nom)
Um. Yeah. So I wrote it.

Yes, while I was taking a break from my exam. And, yes, this means I'm going to have to stay up late doing my exam. But you know what? This is the first time I've written anything spontaneously in months. Totally worth it.

Title: Epistemological Mysteries (Or, Your Optics Can Deceive You)
Fandom: Transformers: Animated
Characters: Prowl, Sari
Rating: G
Summary: Prowl ponders perception and receives a Christmas present. Post-ep for "Human Error".
Word Count: 637
Notes: First TFA fic, so...yeah. I really don't know if I've got the characters' voices at all. Advice would be appreciated.

So...yeah. I not only wrote TFA fic, I wrote Christmas-themed TFA fic. Because that's apparently how I roll.

Ooooh I don't know if I want to post this on [livejournal.com profile] tfanimated_fic , what if it isn't any good or I've got the characters all wrong? And the Transformers fandom is big and scary and I don't know if I want to get into it yet. I already have one big scary fandom with enormous amounts of canon! Why do I need another?

You know if one of you all was watching this show you could help me with this. *nudges*

Yeah, I put it up for public consumption. Why not. Makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something.

A bit of explanation: I originally thought that Chapter 3 of The Memory Always Lies, like Chapter 2, would be bracketed by dream sequences from the perspective of Corporal John Smith. I'm not sure if I'm still going to use that device, but even if I do use it I ended up writing a couple of scenes that just don't fit what I had in mind for said dream sequences. Most don't stand on their own, but this one does, and, as I rather like it, I thought I'd put it up here for your potential reading pleasure.

Title: Sentencing
Characters: Corporal John Smith, OC
Words: ~1200
Rating/Warnings: PG
Warnings (highlight to read): Mild violent imagery, character death.
Notes: Spoilery: This story uses the fanon theory, first made known to me by an anonymous someone on the meme, that the memory blocks imposed on the Doctor during his exile made him unable to hear or communicate with the TARDIS. I'm not sure how clear that is within the scene itself, plus I wanted to give credit where credit was due, so I thought I'd mention it here.

OH , FINALLY. I THOUGHT IT'D NEVER HAPPEN. Ahem.

Anyway, hopefully the next update will not be so very long in coming. As always, comments, criticisms, suggestions, and general thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Title: The Memory Always Lies
Chapter 2: In Which Sgt. Benton Has a Good Memory, and Miss Shaw Makes a Discovery or Two
Fandom: Doctor Who (Classic Series)
Characters: Third Doctor, Liz Shaw, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Sergeant Benton. No pairings.
Spoilers: Through Season 7 of Classic Who and Season 3 of New Who.
Rating: PG (contains one bad word, if that troubles you)
Words: 3,899 (for this chapter)
Summary: The Doctor must use the Chameleon Arch to avoid an imminent threat, leaving Liz, Benton, and the Brig with a mess and a mystery on their hands.
In this chapter: Liz investigates a disappearance, while Corporal John Smith has something on his mind.
Beta: The excellent [livejournal.com profile] kayliemalinza, to whom I owe much.

The first chapter is here.

I'm really thinking about disconnecting my internet after today, except on a strictly as-needed basis, because I'm still wasting so much time and procrastinating on my work and I really shouldn't be doing that.

But, since I'd already more or less wasted today, I decided to make a pretense at getting something done. And so I finally fixed up that Five/Adric fic I wrote way back when, because [personal profile] kayliemalinzawas lovely enough to beta it for me and I just never got around to making the changes she suggested. Maybe this'll even get the writing mojo flowing again.

I'm already running late for something, so I'll have to cut and run before I can do the whole [community profile] dwfiction/Teaspoon/[profile] who_otpthing, but I figure I may as well post it here so it looks like I got something done today instead of fiddling around the internet.

And now to do some actual damn schoolwork.

Title: Block Transfer Computations
Fandom: Doctor Who (Old School)
Characters/Pairings: Five/Adric (sort of, kind of, maybe), mentions of Four, Romana, Nyssa, the Master (Ainley)
Words: 987
Summary: He hasn't been thinking about what came between before and after. Episode tag for Castrovalva.
Warnings: Angst. Present tense. Math. Stream-of-consciousness and the deliberate grammatical errata that implies.

Having goals in mind is a great way to ensure that you become distracted and do something else entirely.

In other news, my fifth [community profile] whoniverse1000 ficlet, courtesy of my claim at [profile] the_randomiser, is up in the ficbucket. It's Lucy Saxon/Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, and as it's well over 1300 words it's not posted in the meme itself yet. It needs to be either cut or linked to, and I'm not sure which I want to do.

[ETA] Also, it's probably not finished - the ending was a quick-as-possible wrap-up more than anything else and I want to do more with it, which I'll do when I'm at home and not being a lazy, lazy bum. So...yeah. I'm leaving it up there for now since I don't actually have it in a file (I try not to save fic to my work computer), but it'll change in the next few days.

I'm also not sure if it should go in my Teaspoon ficbucket, since that's supposed to be for fic under 1000 words, but I'll decide that when I'm not working.

Chipping in for Day O' Classic before I totally do my essay really I promise.

Title: The Waiting-Room World
Fandom: Doctor Who
Characters: Vira, Noah, Dune, Lycet, Rogin (secondary cast of The Ark in Space).
Ships: Implied Noah/Vira, Lycet/Rogin
Rating: PG
Words: 1642
Summary: One day the Earth will burn. A series of short ficlets, centered around the crew of Space Station Nerva before their hibernation.
A/N: As [personal profile] kayliemalinzaand [personal profile] rhia_starsongcan attest, I freaking love the Nerva crew. They're perhaps my favorite secondary cast in any Who serial and I was right pissed that they (well, Vira, anyway) didn't come back in Revenge of the Cybermen. So I thought I'd give them a little fanfic love. Also, this has not been beta'd.

Having only 15 icon spaces is a bit of a pain.

Anyway, after much revision, handwringing, and last-minute changes in direction, I give you Chapter 1 of Memory. Comments, criticisms, and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Also, there's an A/N at the end, just so you know.

Title: The Memory Always Lies
Chapter 1: In Which Miss Shaw Contemplates Certainty
Fandom: Doctor Who (Classic Series)
Characters: Third Doctor, Liz Shaw, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Sergeant Benton. No pairings.
Spoilers: Through Season 7 of Classic Who and Season 3 of New Who.
Rating: PG
Words: 2,862 (for this chapter)
Summary: The Doctor must use the Chameleon Arch to avoid an imminent threat, leaving Liz, Benton, and the Brig with a mess and a mystery on their hands.
Beta: The excellent [personal profile] kayliemalinza. *hugs*
A/N: Takes place sometime between The Ambassadors of Death and Inferno, after the TARDIS console has been removed. Uses TV canon rather than book canon with regards to the Chameleon Arch. Further A/Ns at the end of the text, on account of spoilers.
