1. So today I filled out my first insurance claim form today! Filled in all the blanks and printed it out and mailed it in and everything! And then, and then, I made dinner. It was stir-fry. I cut up the vegetables and the chicken even though I'd never handled meat before, and then I cooked rice and fried the vegetables and meat and it was delicious! I AM SUCH AN ADULT UP IN HERE. :D

Tomorrow? I'm gonna wake up early, and I'm gonna go get my work clothes tailored, and then I'm gonna send out more job applications, and then I'm gonna run some errands, and it's all gonna be AWESOME.

Actual Real Conversation while preparing dinner:

Muppet: Have you ever looked at raw meat and thought that that's what we look like inside?
Mom: ...you're so gross, honey.

2. In less mature news: I drew a thing for the first time in a while! It started out as another sketch of girl!human!Bulkhead but I can't seem to draw people who are bigger than a size 16 so I don't really know how that's going to work. But I like her face so she's going up here. Maybe I'll finally re-download GIMP and color her.

I don't know what she's looking at. )

3. And a random bit of cuteness: Paige O'Hara and Robby Benson, the voice actors of Belle and the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, head down to Disney World for the commemorative re-release of the BatB DVD/Blu-Ray. Or something like that, I don't really know because I still have it on VHS and that's all I need until they stop making VHS players, but it did allow me to see this picture:

Back here. )

Is it bad if I still think Robby Benson's cute?

4. I haven't followed CSI faithfully for a while, but next week's episode looks to be the best thing on TV ever. At least, if the trailers are right and someone really is killing people with a mechanical dinosaur.

5. Dream log nonsense; seriously, like watchdog groups are even watching Rizzoli & Isles. )

At some point I'd like to make a post of all the fanart I've bookmarked so I can share it around. Maybe a fic rec post too. It'll be my splash of childishness once I'm done being an adult for the day.

I should go to bed so I can get up early and be an Adult tomorrow. Good night, flist.

Breaking News: Drawing is even more slow and frustrating than writing. I ended up with, like, five faces. After a million billion years.

So I'm guessing it'll be a while before I can post anything on DA, then.

Figured I might as well put them up here, plus some more of the photos from my garden. Now that fall's started in earnest there are fewer and fewer bugs for me to photograph, and that makes me a bit sad.

Drawings back here, mostly of faces. )

And now, photos!

Photos, mostly of bugs. )

I've got an interview tomorrow! Which means I should go to bed. That huge Real Life post I've been meaning to make will have to wait. Wish me luck.

It'd probably help if I went to bed at a decent hour. And accomplished more than one thing per day.

But, anyway, guess who's car is all better? That's right! Phoebe got repaired and now runs just fine. Apparently there was a disconnected fuse that was drawing power from the battery even when the keys were out of the ignition. It wasn't even an essential fuse, mostly connecting to things like power windows or the glove box light, which I don't even have, so the man at the shop just disconnected it. And now my car runs just like it used to!

So after that I went to get her washed, because she has been gathering pollen for quite some time.

---

In other news, have been working more on drawing different body types, and I think I'm getting better at not only drawing bodies that are not super-skinny but at consistently drawing a single body, keeping proportions in mind and such. Sure, I've still got a long way to go (like, oh say, attempting to draw men for once) but baby steps, baby steps.

Also I got started on my creative project for my Film class today. I may ask a bit of advice on it later, but for now I'm just happy to have gotten that off the ground. And it only has to be about five pages minimum and once it's finished I'll read an excerpt of it in front of actual other people, so - squee!

And now to bed.

I did, in fairness, spend some of today doing homework. But for most of it I sketched. I decided to take the same approach to sketching as one is meant to take to freewriting, i.e. just keep drawing stuff. And I ended up with a whole page of stuff! All of it small, and some of it rather scribbly, but stuff nonetheless.

Per usual, pictures are photographs rather than scanned drawings. Also, they're all human!formers, but don't let that put you off.

varying degrees of effort expended )

And that is all my sketching for the day. And now I must go get dinner and then do something useful with myself, like study or write essays. Alas, most of the snow outside has melted already.

Been a while since I did that, hasn't it.

Anyway, I got an idea in my head for something I wanted to draw, and 20 minutes worth of drawing was my reward for every hour of homework done. This did encourage me to be a more productive artist, though, since it didn't take me the usual three weeks to finish a drawing.

So, anyway, it turns out that not only am I the sort of person who draws the Transformers as humans, I'm the sort of person who draws the Transformers as human women. I'm not sure what that says about me. And yeah, it's another static female figure, which I've been drawing since forever, and I should be branching out, but that is for a time when I don't have homework to do.

I did Bumblebee first, since I already had an idea of what I wanted girl!Bee to look like.

Behind the cut. )

I'll probably hold off posting this on DeviantArt until it's cleaned up and colored (though that means either learning to color or reinstalling GIMP), though I might not post it there either since I get this vibe that drawing human!TFs is generally frowned upon unless you're just as good at drawing the 'bots.

I also made two jewelry things! I made them for the Secret Santa with my friends, and now that [livejournal.com profile] xarisbanana  has received them I can show them off to you.

Behind the cut! )

And now it is back to diligent homeworking tomorrow, la.

So the other day, apropos of nothing in particular, I started doodling instead of writing, because I haven't drawn in a long time and I kind of miss it even though I never got very good at it. And because I had no real direction, I doodled girl! Two. I figured I might as well post it, even though I never learned how to break out of anime style and as such girl! Two looks about twelve years old.

Cut for those on dial-up. )
I have more things to say with regards to TV, real life, fanfic, and other things I should be doing, but it is time for bed by now and I still haven't caught up on comments. Only using the computer for a few minutes at the end of the day is so hard, le sigh.

So, in preparation for That Fanart Thing I Was Talking About, I've been spending the past few days staring at pictures of Katy Manning and furiously scribbling. I still haven't got back in the habit of drawing bodies (at least, not-from-life bodies), but her face isn't quite as difficult as it was before the sketching session started.

I'm nowhere near ready to embark on this Epic Fanart Project, of course - I've yet to make a spirited attempt at drawing Three, and until I can draw them both consistently I don't want to even start - but Jo's getting easier, at least.

Out of all the attempts there's only one I really like, so I thought I'd put it up here. It's loosely based on her hairstyle and outfit from The Three Doctors, and while the face was drawn with a reference the body was not. (Which explains why her arm is somewhat wonky now that I really look at it.)

...So. Yeah. Further efforts may be posted as I complete them. Next up: More Jo, possibly some other companions (likely Victoria or Zoe, because they're ever so cute), and maybe even a Doctor or two.

[ETA] In the wee, wee hours of the morning I did another one, one that I like much better and that does not mimic one specific picture.

Unfortunately, it also means I had no specific reference for her costume (the hair is straight out of The Time Monster), and thus she is dressed a touch less fabulously than usual. But we shall pretend that she and the Doctor have landed on the planet of the Tasteful Logo T-Shirts.

I think I might like this one enough to put it up on [profile] 500year_diary...

Oh, and the images are yellowish because I photographed them, rather than scanning them. Once I finish them up, or I start working on the bigger images, they'll be scanned, thus avoiding yellowness.
