Well, I ended up not having nightmares about Takashi Miike movies last night, that was nice. Though I did have a semi-nightmare about Beatrice from Umineko killing people by poisoning their soup, but that's pretty bog-standard dream business for me, sadly.

However, I have finished my first Ficlet Project ficlet HELL YEAH. :D And it did end up helping me accomplish what I wanted it to - I have been writing a lot more lately. And now I have a fic! I haven't done a fic post since April, wow. And yeah, it means I'm up at 2 a.m. again, but it beats being up at 4, and anyway I'M FINISHED so I don't care. :D

Also, as of today I have a pair of earrings shaped like SR-71 Blackbirds with little rhinestones in the wings. I'm pretty sure this makes me cooler than everybody ever.

Title: Someone Else's Story
Fandom: Toy Story
Characters/Pairings: Buzz/Jessie
Rating: G
Summary: The lives of toys are all about stories.
Word Count: 1560 (haha)
Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] livii , who gave me the prompt "Buzz/Jessie, first date", which I took a few liberties with. Hope it's still okay. :D

The Ficlet Project's still going: The first commenter on this post gets to request a fandom, a character or pairing, and a short prompt. See here for the fandoms I can write. Though do be advised that the ficlet I wite for you might be anywhere from 100 to 2000 words and it will probably take me a million billion years to write it.

And now maybe I can catch up on comments.

Also, any idea where I might cross-post this? Or rather angst about cross-posting it and then never do so?

Because when you have a doctor's appointment in the morning and homework due on Tuesday the thing to do is stay up until 2:30 a.m. writing fic. Clearly. [ETA] And then stay up until 3:00 a.m. having internet-connection problems because I'm finished, darnit, I want to post it right now. Phooey. [SON OF ETA] And then staying up till 3:30 trying to fix it until it finally craps out and you just stayed up way too late for nothing, congratulations.

It does puzzle me somewhat that everything I've written for TFA has been so very fluffy, but I suppose fluff is generally shorter whereas angst, drama, or any other genre takes time, dedication, and the ability to come up with an actual plot. Also I'm a complete sucker for The Big Robot Family so perhaps this is not so puzzling as it seems.

Title: The Sound of Travel and the Engine
Fandom: Transformers: Animated
Characters: Optimus Prime, Sari
Rating: G
Summary: Optimus helps Sari adjust to Cybertron any way he can.
Word Count: 820
Notes: Post-series; spoilers as such. Title comes from R.E.M.'s "You Are The Everything", which is kind of what this fic is inspired by. So that should give you a clue as to the mood, then.

Now let's see if my internet works long enough to post this so I can go to bed.
stunt_muppet: (this is my TF icon)
So I decided that darn it I was going to finish my [livejournal.com profile] springkink  fic yesterday. I'd just sit down and power through it. And then I'd work on my essay.

Yeah. That ended up as "stay up all night until nine bloody thirty a.m. finishing the thing because of course it spooled out into something huge and then remembering that technically I'm not actually a member of [livejournal.com profile] springkink  even though I'm signed up so I can't even post it, skip dee doo." Tell me again how enormously smart I am.

Anyway, most of the people who read this thing (if they read it, hah) will probably read it once I post it to the comm proper, but I like having things organized and in one place so I'm also posting it here. Plus, this way I can just do all the coding now, including the header (it tends to take an hour) and just copypaste it when it comes time to post it in the comm.

So, yeah. Not only is it my first Optimus/Elita fic, it's also my first G1 fic and my first shippy Transformers fic and my first fic involving robot sex of any description. Clearly I've gone completely mad. Also? Not doing this again. Ever. Chaste robot romances from here on out. I swear.

Title: Connections
Author:  that'd be me
Rating: Between PG-13 and R, I'd say - let's go with low R.
Warnings: Robot sex between a male-identified robot and a female-identified robot, plug'n'play, sort-of medical play. A splash of probably ill-handled angst.
Prompt: Transformers (G1), Elita One/Optimus Prime: doing maintenance on each other, washing (no sticky) – My beloved equal.
Wordcount: 2,525 (rrgh)
Summary: Optimus and Elita aren't who they used to be.
Notes: Takes place pre-G1 series, in the early days of the war. Which is why I felt comfortable making Optimus and Elita a bit more angsty here than they are in canon - I figure by the time we hit "The Search For Alpha Trion" they've had nine million years to get over their Issues.

Um. Yeah. So I wrote it.

Yes, while I was taking a break from my exam. And, yes, this means I'm going to have to stay up late doing my exam. But you know what? This is the first time I've written anything spontaneously in months. Totally worth it.

Title: Epistemological Mysteries (Or, Your Optics Can Deceive You)
Fandom: Transformers: Animated
Characters: Prowl, Sari
Rating: G
Summary: Prowl ponders perception and receives a Christmas present. Post-ep for "Human Error".

Notes: First TFA fic, so...yeah. I really don't know if I've got the characters' voices at all. Advice would be appreciated.

So...yeah. I not only wrote TFA fic, I wrote Christmas-themed TFA fic. Because that's apparently how I roll.

Ooooh I don't know if I want to post this on [livejournal.com profile] tfanimated_fic , what if it isn't any good or I've got the characters all wrong? And the Transformers fandom is big and scary and I don't know if I want to get into it yet. I already have one big scary fandom with enormous amounts of canon! Why do I need another?

You know if one of you all was watching this show you could help me with this. *nudges*

Yeah, I put it up for public consumption. Why not. Makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something.

A bit of explanation: I originally thought that Chapter 3 of The Memory Always Lies, like Chapter 2, would be bracketed by dream sequences from the perspective of Corporal John Smith. I'm not sure if I'm still going to use that device, but even if I do use it I ended up writing a couple of scenes that just don't fit what I had in mind for said dream sequences. Most don't stand on their own, but this one does, and, as I rather like it, I thought I'd put it up here for your potential reading pleasure.

Title: Sentencing
Characters: Corporal John Smith, OC
Words: ~1200
Rating/Warnings: PG
Warnings (highlight to read): Mild violent imagery, character death.
Notes: Spoilery: This story uses the fanon theory, first made known to me by an anonymous someone on the meme, that the memory blocks imposed on the Doctor during his exile made him unable to hear or communicate with the TARDIS. I'm not sure how clear that is within the scene itself, plus I wanted to give credit where credit was due, so I thought I'd mention it here.

With many apologies to astrophysicists everywhere for my more-or-less winging it with regards to their profession, and especially to Charles T. Kowal for co-opting his work to make Liz look good. Happy Valentine's/Singles' Awareness/Hey Look Cheap Candy Day to all and sundry! You are all excellent, excellent people, whom I adore and am glad to know. *spreads the love*

Anyway, slightly randomly: A (long) while back, I did that "three fics you think I'd never write" meme. Predictably, I half-completed all of the requested ficlets and then forgot about them, because I just sort of fail at having an attention span memes that way.

I've been trying to finish up old memes lately, since I have quite a few of them backlogged, and I came across the document with the requests for that meme. Most of them are still in incomplete bits, but [livejournal.com profile] nentari  requested Jack/K-9, and the snippet I wrote for hers actually a)was finished and b) sort of stands on its own.

And, well, I haven't posted anything to [livejournal.com profile] whoniverse1000  in ages and ages... (We're at 218/1000 as of my posting this, by the way. Keep on writing! We're 1/5 of the way there!)

I have decided that it is time I standardized the format for the subject lines of my fic posts, rather than just having random titles.

Also, yes, I have been bad at comment replies; I shall catch up with you all this weekend if not on Friday itself, because once I post this it'll be Actual Schoolwork Tiem Nao. But suffice to say that I love you all lots and appreciate your sundry insights and witticisms.

Title: An Experiment, of Sorts (1/2)
Fandom: Doctor Who (Old School)
Characters/Pairings: Three/Liz, after a fashion.
Rating: PG

Summary: Everyone needs a new challenge, from time to time.
Betas: [livejournal.com profile] gorengal, [livejournal.com profile] kayliemalinza, and [livejournal.com profile] sterling_sky, who are amazing people and who I'm deeply grateful for.
A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] agapi42 for the DW/Torchwood/SJA Cliche-swap Ficathon. The cliche being misapplied is Ten/Sarah Jane, "he wishes he was the kind of man to settle down with her". The story takes place post-Inferno but before Liz leaves UNIT.
