You know, it might have been more interesting if he had been from Miami, just because there are so few TV cops I can think of who aren't from or currently living in New York. XD Not to mention I know people who actually lived in Miami in the 60s and 70s, and so would have had to do much less research. *shrug* Of course, New York was quite turbulent in its own way during that era. So I'm told. Can't quite be certain because I wasn't, you know, there.
Ignoring right away, ma'am. *salutes* Was going to anyway, since it's the one inconsistency in the whole age/timeline issue, and can if necessary be written off as a joke.
See, I just felt I had to emphasize the non-creepiness because a few rewrites ago that plot point did end up going to an extremely icky place. Thankfully, I managed to slap some sense into Muse and ask her what the hell she thought she was doing before she did any permanent damage.
And much though I want to work the Horatio/Yelina dynamic into the fic, I'm not quite sure how I'd do that without overlapping into the canon-verse. I've a few ideas involving, say, a previous affair of Raymond's that Horatio never told her about, but even then I think that might occur too early in Horatio and Yelina's 'relationship' for that power imbalance to have really set in.
Then again, I suppose I could write another piece set within show canon and just label it as Little-Brothers-verse compliant...
As for his mom, I think I know how to work that in; there are a few scenes in Horatio's teenage years that play that relationship up, including one where he addresses his mother by her first name to calm her down (unfortunately, that's also where the first version started to go to an uncomfortable place). That shouldn't be too hard to include.
Regarding the AU tag, I'll have to see how the final version of that chapter turns out. I probably won't be working on it for a while (Dark!Horatio can't come out of nowhere; I kind of have to build up to his appearance), so hopefully I'll have some time to tweak and revise and tinker before I make that decision, but it really depends on how the ending goes, and how much speculation I'm willing to leave to the readers. I would really, really not like to do it, though. *hopes*
Erm...perhaps I should have phrased that better. In the story as I've organized it so far, Peter will only appear in two chapters. He hasn't actually shown up yet, I've just obsessively plotted out what's going to happen in which chapter ahead of time. XD And I've written bits and pieces for most of the chapters, so I've written enough of Peter Creedy to like him. So no, you didn't miss anything.
Must leave for class now, so I shall hopefully reply to the rest later...
