You know, something else pertaining to Dumbledore has crossed my mind since last night. The details of "The Prince's Tale" have pretty much made a temporary (or permanent, I haven't decided yet :P) residence in my head, and now I'm wondering...did Dumbledore sort of take advantage of Snape and his feelings for Lily? I mean...the only reason Snape did what he did was because he loved Lily...and I know Dumbledore knew that. He wasn't stupid. So Snape was sort of a guinea pig...

Gah, I probably make no sense. It's only 10:00 in the morning, and I'm still sleepy. :P

But still...that makes SOME sense, doesn't it? It's definitely something I'll be thinking about more and more.

Yes, he did manipulate/screw over Snape. Shamelessly. That's the OTHER other reason I don't like him as much anymore.

And that's the other reason that the tone of "King's Cross" strikes me as so wierd. If JKR's paying any attention to her own fandom, she should have *known* that fandom wrath would descend upon Dumbledore like the hammer of an angry god as soon as she wrote "The Prince's Tale". It's a little late to make nice after Dumbledore's effed-over the fandom's favorite character.

I don't even know why I didn't realize that in the first place! Aaaaaarghhhh!!! And Snape died needlessly, seeing as how Voldemort wouldn't have had complete power over the Elder Wand anyway...

Okay, I take back my comment about loving him even more now. ;_; Now I'm sad.

I thought a lot about what you said, and yes, he was very selfish. I don't know WHAT I was thinking before...I guess I still hadn't really wrapped my brain around everything that happened. Now that I've really sat and thought about it...

It didn't hit me until I'd given it more thought either - and I think that's because it was so downplayed in the book. (Or it could be that I'm insensitive and horrible, but I prefer the former. XD)

And yes, that's one of the book's more depressing after-effects. :(
