viralmancer tagged me, and I must obey...
1: What do you believe is your biggest weakness in your writing?
2: What is your worst fear? (this may be a phobia, financially- or family-related, etc.)
3: What is your most treasured childhood memory? (this may be a toy, an event, a singular moment, etc.)
4: If you had to choose just one, what is the biggest, most important belief in your life? (this belief may be religious, moral, etc.)
5: Which genre of fiction do you have absolutely no taste for whatsoever?
6: Why did you start writing? Why do you keep writing?
7: What is your definition of a 'good' person? Name someone you think fits this definition and briefly describe them.

1. I've ranted about this before, so I'll just say it briefly here: I think my writing is too plain and too functional, and that I don't have the gift for imagery that my favorite writers have.
2. My fear is death in any of its many forms and flavors. After that is failing - succuming to circumstances beyond my control, being trapped in a situation that I can't get out of. Seems reasonable to me.
3. Most of my childhood memories are fond, but I think my best memory is of reading along to Dr. Seuss with my parents, slowly memorizing the words and learning what each one meant. Or, possibly, the first time we went to King's Dominion, and an a capella group performed "River of Dreams" for us when we were eating an early dinner. I remember I danced to it. I was young enough not to be self-conscious about it.
4. Biggest belief is probably that some kind of higher power exists. I'm not sure what it is, but I believe that there is one. And no, I can't justify or explain it, not really, so don't ask me to.
5. I have never had a taste for erotic fiction or straight-up romance, but that should be obvious. Aside from that, I've never had a taste for Candace Bushnell-style chick lit - stories revolving around beautiful, oversexed women in screwed-up relationships who are so independant but just can't get away from those crazy, bad-for-them men. I can't relate to those books at all and I don't enjoy reading them.
6. I started writing when I was in first grade, with a story about a talking teapot. I haven't stopped since. Even before I knew how to write, though, I was making up stories and insisting that my parents act them out. I keep writing because I can't stop. As I've frequently complained, writing is like a compulsion. I have ideas; I need to write them down.
7. My definition of a good person is someone who does not hurt others and works to make others' lives better/make the world a better place to live in for others without needing reward (enjoying reward or wanting reward is okay in my book, so long as you'll keep working whether you recieve it or not). You pick an example you think works best; I'm sure there are plenty.

XD I agree with #5. Like totally. Let's hear it for Sues!

Heehee. See, there are a couple of authors (including Bushnell herself, depending on who you ask - I don't know if I believe it) who can write characters like that in a somewhat realistic and believable fashion. Trouble is that there are just so darn many that can't.
