So since Fiance has been playing Fire Emblem Three Houses, which means I am getting Fannishly Into Fire Emblem Three Houses, because it's much easier for me to get into a fandom if I have someone to blather to about it in real life. And I have written part of a Thing about it!
Granted, the main reason I got the idea to write it was because Claude and Hilda are both enjoyably pretty and I wanted to see if I could advance my Men Get Pegged agenda while taking into account Hilda's fundamental pillow princess nature. Turns out I can! I'm versatile like that.
And so, since it was Lewd and since it was just something I was jotting down late at night, I started writing the thing on a Google doc on my phone. And now I've gotten it to almost 1500 words, but only when I write it on my phone.
I don't know why, but if I try to write it on my actual computer or even longhand, the inspiration dries right up. My current theory is that while it's on my phone, it still feels casual, like something I'm just dashing off and posting fast and not thinking too hard about. If I open it on my computer, then it's A Thing that I'm Writing and I have to put effort into it and it has to be Good.
As far as the actual game goes I mostly have thoughts on the characters and ships rather than the gameplay, but maybe that's for another post that I haven't hijacked to be all about my writing woes.

(no subject)
Okay, even without knowing the characters (yet!) I approve of this so much. You have the best ideas.
I can so relate to the only able to write on your phone thing, too -- or at least, it reminds me of the way I get progressively more anxious about writing the farther and/or more invested I get in any given story. Plus I guess there's the fact that the sole work of smut I've put online was written entirely on my tablet while desperately sleep deprived. Sometimes it's a relief if something doesn't feel too real!
Now that I'm out of the writing hole I can actually talk! :D

That's exactly it! I don't think I'd noticed while I was actually in the process but I did feel like I sort of had to rush and get this story out and I think that has something to do with not wanting to spend too much time on it. If I spent a long time on it, then in order to somehow 'justify' that time, the finished product would have to be polished and 'good'.
And I know what you mean too on having to be sleep-deprived to post anything smutty. Less sleep means lower inhibitions and less self-consciousness! It's just, you know, a shame about all the tradeoffs.
Re: Now that I'm out of the writing hole I can actually talk! :D
I never thought of it exactly that way, but it's a really good way of putting it! It's scary to care about something enough to put time into it, because then my jerkbrain is like, what, so you think this is going to be a masterpiece or something? Sigh.
Ahaha, isn't it just.
