Hmm...I double-checked the conversation (someone helpfully pointed out the Random Scribblings gallery (http://random-scribblings.net/coppermine/index.php?cat=2), which has episode clips from all 5 seasons, so hopefully this won't happen again), and Horatio makes it pretty definite that the death of his mother and father occurred at the same time. I believe the exact line is "In an attempt to save my mother's life, I intervened on a situation and her killer ended up dead". Doesn't leave a whole lot of room for anything to occur in between.

So, if I don't want to rewrite it (and I don't), that gives me two options: say that Horatio was lying to Stetler, which doesn't seem entirely unreasonable, or just call Little Brothers an AU and cheerfully ignore the conversation entirely.

Yeah, I guess that is kind of hard to work around. Darn. Ah well, I'm sure whatever you go with will be cohesive. Canon as it pertains to Horatio's backstory has a funny way of changing, anyway.

And as an aside, I am in love that site; thanks for pointing it out.
