So I caved and signed up for [livejournal.com profile] 666words , because it has all the advantages on NaNo (namely, not being a ficathon and thus no obligations to anyone but yourself, no shafting people on a fic if you default) with a few additional bonuses (20,000 words instead of 50,000; you can write fic or original fiction; you can work on a fic you've already started). Because it saves me from doing something even more foolish like signing up for Yuletide, that's why.

Anyway, as I figured I would be making extensive use of Write or Die in order to make my daily wordcount (666.66666 words per day, hence the name), and that I'd probably inevitably miss a few days, I should get a bit of a jump start and accustom myself to both writing daily and using Write or Die.

Guess who just wrote 1341 words in 35 minutes? OH HELL YEAH. And it was 1341 words of the second chapter of Experiment, too! I didn't think I was even capable of such productivity anymore!

Granted, they are dubiously-in-character words and shift tenses every five minutes because I apparently suffer from a tragic defect that prevents me from writing in a single tense, but still. 1341 SHINY NEW WORDS. That's more than I usually get out in two weeks.

It also enabled me to discover that I actually can't write romance, particularly not for two characters who have no romantic dialogue in canon and have never, to my knowledge, chatted anyone up. The end of Invasion of the Dinosaurs doesn't count because I don't think we're supposed to think that scene ends with hot filthy console shagging even if the thought is sort of unavoidable. Perhaps I should try having a love life before I write about other peoples', hmm.

Anyway, the unguessed people on the Favorite Characters meme:

2. CSI: Miami - unguessed character was Ryan Wolfe (even if he was a jackass in Season 6)
4. Law and Order - unguessed character was Jack McCoy ("Heavens to betsy, what a dreadful idea." )
9. Final Fantasy X - Auron (my love for sexy old guys with shades and bass voices continues unabated)
10. NCIS - Abby (at last, a Goth who doesn't act like an Emo stereotype! And who seems to really like what she wears! And who plays video games and has a farting hippo for a stuffed animal!)
13. Eternal Darkness - Edward Roivas (but nobody played this game except me, so I didn't really expect anyone to get that)
14. Resident Evil (gameverse) - unguessed character was William Birkin (yes, really. Even though he appears in two games and is dead in one of them.)
15. Golden Sun - Piers/Picard and Sheba (again, nobody played this game but me, so no surprise nobody guessed it. Incidentally you should play it it was awesome.)
16. Justice League - unguessed character was the Martian Manhunter (he was just very serious business sometimes and I found that entertaining)
18. Middleman - Middleman and Wendy (I love Wendy because she is a subversion of every geek stereotype about women ever and is asskicking and witty and pretty and amazing, and the Middleman...well, the Middleman says things like "Flowers for Algernon!" as swears and also takes himself Very Very Seriously, which amuses me.)
