Shopping for bridesmaid's dresses is kind of a pain, especially when none of the samples fit properly and they're all too big and there are only three dresses in the color you want and none of them are the manufacturer or fabric you want and the only one that even halfway fits is made of satin which is the single most unforgiving fabric in existence for anybody without washboard abs which means I'm going to have to go out and buy shapewear and argh.

Trying on dresses shouldn't make me tired.

However, being in the bridal outfitter's that long made me realize that if I do get married, I want a tiara. An honest, sparkly tiara. Because if you can't be over-the-top on your wedding day, when can you?

Actually, I want a wedding. I want to wear a poofy ridiculous dress and a tiara and have dancing and cake. I just don't want to go to all the trouble of getting married.

Replies to comments, posts, et al to come in the morning.

Dancing cake would be nice too, though I think I'd feel bad about eating it.

Satin is a cruel mistress, but it's so preeeeeeeeeettyyyy...

Seriously, the only thing making me want to get married is the spectacle. Maybe I'll just have a friend officiate and not bother with the whole license thing.

I like satin, really, so long as it's on other people. This dress makes me look about ten pounds heavier than I know I am, just because it sticks to my stomach like cling wrap. Methinks a corset is in order.

I sort of miss being five years old, donning a princess crown and declaring that I was going to get married to some guy in kindergarten. Our wedding's tomorrow; bring cupcakes! :D Unfortunately, if you try that now people tend to look at you funny.

DANCING AND CAKE AND RIDICULOUS CLOTHING?!!?! Oh I am so there.

Because you realize you're going to have to invite *alllll* your LJ friends to your wedding now? And have an open bar? (Well, actually, everybody else can pay for their booze. You can just pay for mine, okey doke?) Agreed! Unanimous decision! Hurrah!

But of course! Everyone is invited! And there shall be an open bar with all manner of exotic and strange beverages (read: wine), and huge plates full of tiny little hors d'oerves. Have a party, bring your friends!

Ugh, SATIN.

The worst part of bridesmaid's dresses is the non-reusable thing, sigh. For my fairly unconventional wedding, I let my six girls (two sisters, two sisters-in-law, two best friends) wear any old dress they liked, so long as they didn't clash. People reused or bought new as their hearts desired and everyone loves the pictures. Success!

I like your unconventional wedding. :) I've been lucky so far in that neither of the brides I've bridesmaided for have been insane about bridesmaid dresses; the first one let us pick whatever style of dress we wanted so long as it was a certain color and fabric, so I've re-used that one a couple of times since then. This time...I think it's mostly our own fault. We've been lagging behind on getting a dress, and custom orders apparently take about four months to fill when the wedding is in three, so I've had to go with whatever sample looks decent on me and doesn't fit like a circus tent.

if you don't me asking why are you shopping for brides maid dresses? are you going to be in a wedding? Oo, I want my dress to be burnt orange, mm, I want to get married in autumn preferably November.

Oo, I used to love wearing tiaras when it was my birthday, I remember in high school, how certain kids wore tiaras to school, i was thought it was nifty and interesting. I love wedding cakes, yeah, weddings are expensive and a long planning process not to mention the stress of getting married

I'm going to be a bridesmaid for one of my cousins, yeah. And burnt orange is actually quite close to the color of my first bridesmaid dress; it's a lovely, unusual color.

I used to proudly strut around in tiaras when I was in kindergarten, but I think by first grade I'd figured out that I wasn't supposed to do that anymore. XD I wish I had more occasions on which to wear things like tiaras.

Um...well, I'm on vacation next week, so maybe when I get back? I'd really have to do it on a weekend because of the commute, so the weekend after I get back would be best.
