Am still at work.

Have just been assaulted by crackbunny where the Brigadier is a fobwatched War Chief.

No idea where this came from. Suspect I am entirely too fond of this plot device.

PLEASE SEND HELP.

---

Speaking of fobwatches, I finally wrote up most of Benton's section of Chapter 2 of Memory, at least in rough-rough draft form. Mostly, that means just writing the dialogue, since for some reason I've been failing at description lately. Current Chapter 2 wordcount: 1,555. About half-completed.

Also made yet another attempt at Two/Polly ficlet. Did not succeed, since Two keeps sounding like...well, not! Two. And even though I've seen all her episodes and most of her recons, I still think I'm making Polly too sarcastic and wordy. I've decided what the fic is about, though. And that it will be titled "Fashion is Serious Business".

And finally, I've recently contracted the urge to expand "You Really Should Have Specified" out into a proper fic, where Team Season 7 uses the unfortunate incident in the aforementioned fic to negotiate their way into a proper, non-alien-hormone-induced OT3. Thought up most of the Doctor/Liz and Liz/Brig bits last night when I was trying to sleep.

Should probably get back to what I'm actually getting paid to do now.

Wasn't the the Brig first, and then the War Chief, and then the Brig again?

OMG WHAT IF THE WAR CHIEF IS A FOBWATCHED BRIG? Somehow?!

I didn't say it made any sense.

OH OH BUT WE DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW FOR CERTAIN WHEN THE WAR GAMES TOOK PLACE DO WE. For all we know they could have been way way far in the future and/or past, and instead of the War Chief dying, the Time Lords stuck him in a watch and sent him off to Earth. In the past and/or future. For...um...inscrutible Time Lord reasons. I don't know.

Well, presumably the Arch can work in reverse...

Also, that would be awesome.

Oooooh, you make a point about time there. But still, fobwatch reversal is extra special crack and therefore of merit, I should think. :d

Fobwatch reversal is of a LOT of merit. And not something I think I've seen done terribly often in fic. I like this combination. :D

Really, I don't know how this plot device hasn't been used to death already. Not that I want it to be, of course.

Why would you stop spamming LJ? :( I like it when you spam LJ.

This be my favorite fobwatch!crack idea:

Jamie is a fob-watched Two.

Post War-Games, Two is upset and runs away from the Time Lords, fob-watching himself in order to hide and going to Scotland in order to be with Jamie. EXCEPT he overshoots by 20 or so years, and the Cameleon Arch changes his external appearance as well as internal biology, and he becomes a BABY, and is Jamie, and grows up, and meets HIMSELF. EXCEPT HE TOTALLY DOESN'T KNOW IT. Things get REALLY wonky when Jamie (who is actually Two) gets returned to Scotland post-War Games, finds the fobwatch and opens it, and gets caught by the Time Lords who are looking for the *previous* Two, who is of course a baby 20 years earlier. Anyway Jamie --> Two --> Three and somewhere, a village registry of births and deaths is very confused.

Because, at the time I wrote that entry, I probably should have been working. And my parents just gave me the get-a-life lecture again, and I'm tired of hearing it.

I do not understand how the concept of the fobwatched hasn't been mightily abused already. ANYBODY could potentially be ANYBODY ELSE. The possibilities are literally endless.

Anyway Jamie --> Two --> Three and somewhere, a village registry of births and deaths is very confused.

...I'm pretty sure I just got totally lost reading that, but perhaps it will make a bit more sense in the morning. Either way, I like it. Especially for the mass confusion this'll cause once both Twos navigate their way back to the same time period.

But that's the beauty of it! It's a self-cleaning scam, as Cpt. Jack would say. Jamie never existed expect for Fobwatched! Two, and gets turned back into Two right after he escapes.

Er, that might not have helped. Explained better (hopefully):

Two lives as we know in canon up to the end up The War Games.

Post-War Games, he escapes to Scotland to hide from the Time Lords and be with Jamie. However, he accidentally goes to Scotland ~20 years too soon, and the fobwatch turns him into a baby. He is discovered on a doorstep and taken in by the McCrimmon clan, who name him Jamie. He, completely human because of the fobwatch, grows up and finds a strange man who calls himself the Doctor.

Fobwatch!Jamie goes on adventures with the Doctor, as we saw in canon, then has his memory wiped and is returned to Scotland at just after Culloden, as we saw in canon.

THEN he discovers the fobwatch and opens it, becomes Two again, then is caught by the Time Lords who think that he is the Two who just then escaped from them. That Two, of course, is a baby 20 years in the past, AND 20 years earlier on his personal timeline.

Two-who-used-to-be-Jamie is then forced to regenerate and becomes Three.

Did that make more sense? I suspect the TARDIS as a special Smart Coffee machine that helps people understand all this timey wimey stuff. >P
