 1. Spent pretty much all day unpacking (which I still haven't done, naturally) and writing up another ficlet for [community profile] whoniverse1000. This most recent one's Nine/Adric, since I'm trying to fulfill a few requests before I start cluttering up the meme with my own pairings and anyway I'm pretty sure no one's going to steal Harry/Vira while I'm not looking.

Point of Mild Annoyance: I think I'm losing my Nine voice. I had to keep correcting Nine in this ficlet so that he didn't sound like Ten or Four. I haven't written Nine very much, admittedly, and when I did it was usually Dark!Angry!PTSD!Nine, so writing any other flavor of Nine feels...wierd. Obviously, an epic New Who Season 1 Rewatch is in order; I'd hate to lose my grasp on dear Nine. :D

Also I threw completely unnecessary Shakespeare quotes in there. Not sure why I did that.

2. Speaking of unpacking, I've got many more of my summer clothes unpacked, but there's still a whole box of stuff I've yet to even open. I'm a little intimidated, actually. I feel like I'm never going to get all this cleared away.

3. "The Memory Always Lies" has an almost complete plot outline now, although I may tweak the later chapters, since they're a bit too dramatic and involve shootings and Brave Confrontations and reversals of fortune and such. But they allow for lots and lots of Benton! That has to be a good sign. Chapter 2 also proceeds apace.

Question: [personal profile] kayliemalinza, would you still be able to beta Memory even if I can't give you a print copy? I mean, obviously I wouldn't send you the chapter until after you were finished with your papers and such, but I don't know how you feel about betaing via e-mail. I suppose we could ship the printout back and forth, but that involves, you know...postage and things.

4. May have acquired yet another new show, if not exactly a new fandom: Reaper, the first episode of which I just watched with my mom and dad, is pretty damn awesome. It's funny, I love the premise, and
any show with a demon-capturing Dirt Devil, a DMV as a portal to Hell, and Death By Zamboni
is something I want to keep watching. Also, it's got the kind of buddyish man-love that makes slash goggles entirely unnecessary, including mentions of a mancrush. Excellent. Did it get renewed this season? Someone tell me it did, please.

5. Caught the finales of CSI: Miami and SVU. Both of them sent me into a fangirl hissyfit. Am already contemplating fix-it fic for the former, because TPTB saw fit to nix YET ANOTHER of my slash OTPs. I HATE IT WHEN YOU DO THAT, writers.

Season 6 has made it really hard to write Miami fic, actually. Most of my fic centers around Horatio, and his character's gotten so lost this season that there's no way to reconcile the way I write him (which is based on Seasons 1-4, back when he was still a character at least) with how he's been acting this season. At least, not without making him a psychopath. Not that I'd entirely mind the chance to write him as such, but it doesn't really work with my growing-up genfic, H/M fluff, and twisty complicated H/Y angst. Bah. I blame the writers and retreat to Season 1, in hopes that it will bring back the writerly mojo that I miss so badly.

The finale of SVU, unfortunately, cemented my decision not to watch next season. It's a sad day when the writers will cheerfully toss out the characters' credibility for the sake of drama, which is what happened to Fin, Lake, and Casey on a massive scale here. Much like Miami, I retreat in a huff to Seasons 1 and 2 to make myself feel better. At least then I wouldn't have to call it a miracle when Munch was actually onscreen.

How much you want to bet I'll be right back in front of the TV next year?

Still can't bring myself to watch the CSI finale. Am not ready for that.

6. Going to go see Iron Man tomorrow YAY. Pixxi, call me when you wake up so I can figure out what we're doing.

...when did it get this late? I'm going to bed.

I love the Reaper I've watched. I love the premise, I love it when people explore the dimensions of Satan, I love the friendships...<3

Yay! *cheers* Maybe I'll be able to keep up with it next season. And I haven't seen anything besides the pilot yet, but already Satan is one of my favorite characters. "Oh, yeah, that's not gay at all." XD

NINE/ADRIC R U SRS? OMG SAY U R SRS. WILL IT BE MY SPESHUL TRAUMATIZEDBYMASTER!ADRIC? CANON!ADRIC WOULD BE HILARIOUS, THO.

I can beta by e-mail just fine; my new addy is my first and last name (no spaces or underscores) at Gmail. I'm not doing much at the moment so you can send it whenever.

P.S. you might wanna check my journal because I kinda, um, got into a... an argument... with Nu Who. >.> there was some yelling.

I R SRS. UNFORTUNATELY IT DOES NOT INVOLVE TRAUMATIZED!ADRIC BUT THERE IS VARIOUS AND SUNDRY SCREWING WITH TIMELINES. It's right there on the other side of the link. :D

...goodness, that was an epic shouting match you got yourself into. I hope no furniture was thrown. :(

This is ALWAYS the right answer.

Yes, yes it is. Apparently, The Unquiet Dead was actually really awesome and I just didn't remember that. It's good to have reminders.

People slag off that episode but I remember loving it! (Even if it did get a little jumbled at the end.)

I don't actually remember how I felt about that episode the first time I saw it, but even though it didn't stick out the first go-round I'm sure I didn't hate it. What's to hate?

CSI finale was not so bad, actually. Jammed with lots of good stuff to make up for the bad part.

But but but but no more Warrick. I'm having issues dealing with that even as an abstract concept. But if I don't see it, it didn't happen, right?

While I liked the SVU finale's impact, I had a few problems with it. Primarily, that they had a cop murder someone and at the end he's in the patrol car heading off to jail. Why does that bother me? Because in the Homicide: Life on the Street movie, Det. Bayliss confessed to murdering a perp and was being led off to his fate. I know there are a lot of similarities with cop dramas, but to me it looked like they ripped the idea and twisted it to their own means. The real 'crime' is what they did to Casey Novak. (Adam Beach didn't 'gel' with the other members of the cast, but them firing Diane Neal made me really peeved.)

I'll probably watch the first few eps, just to see how they'll handle the fact Ice really isn't leaving the show. I think having two people leave this season was quite enough.

Ah. See, I didn't see the HLOTS movie (or, um...more than a few episodes of HLOTS period; I need to get on that), but I've definitely seen that visual before (of a cop murdering a perp and the last shot of him being seated in the back of a police car), so it didn't jump out at me. And I never really connected with Lake's character, so I can't say I was all broken up about him leaving, but his actions in this episode seemed so much more extreme than anything I'd seen him do before. I'd missed a couple of episodes, but even so, this seemed out of left field.

I am especially resentful of what was done to Casey Novak; she's mostly whom I'm reffering to when I talk about sacrificing character credibility for drama. The Casey Novak I knew wouldn't have broken the rules so blatantly, no matter what. It made her look reckless and incompetent, and she isn't.
