As part of my Martha/Liz Day o' Pimping over at
who_otp, I've put together a small musical tribute to my OTP-that's-never-met.
When I try to imagine a story for Liz/Martha, I usually end up somehow using Martha and the Doctor's trip to 1969 as a plot device. This fanmix vaguely follows such a plotline, starting by introducing Martha and Liz and proceeding through their meeting, their friendship, their tentative relationship, the bond that develops between them, their eventual goodbyes as Martha returns to her own time - and maybe, just maybe, their reunion.
Romantic? Me? I've no idea what you mean.

Short Skirt/Long Jacket - Cake
I want a girl with a mind like a diamond
I want a girl who knows what’s best
I want a girl with shoes that cut
and eyes that burn like cigarettes
…
I want a girl with a short skirt
and a long…jacket.
Changes - Butterfly Boucher with David Bowie
Changes - Butterfly Boucher with David Bowie
I still don't know what I was lookin’ for
and my time was running wild
a million dead-end streets
every time I thought I'd got it made
it seemed the taste was not so sweet
3 Women Walking - Ottmar Liebert
Instrumental
I Move On - Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellwegger (from the soundtrack to Chicago)
So there's no doubt we're well cut out
to run life's marathon.
We just move on.
Yeah we move on.
Space - Bond
Instrumental
Masterfade - Andrew Bird
I saw you standing all alone in the electrostatic rain
I thought at last I'd found a situation you can't explain
with GPS you know it's all just a matter of degrees
your happiness won't find you underneath that canopy of trees
Uninvited - Alanis Morissette
I don't think you unworthy
I need a moment
to deliberate...
Topaz - The B-52s
New city by the sea.
Skyscrapers are winking.
Some hills I'll never see.
The universe is expanding.
Caramel - Suzanne Vega
I know your name, I know your skin
I know the way these things begin.
But I don't know how I would live with myself
what I'd forgive of myself
if you don't go.
The Scientist - Coldplay
Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
you don't know how lovely you are
I had to find you, tell you I need you
tell you I set you apart
tell me your secrets, and ask me your questions
oh let's go back to the start.
Lucky - Bif Naked
It's time to let you know
time to sit here and say
I know we are
we are the lucky ones
(The crack-tastic bonus track which has nothing to do with the storyline:)
Still Alive (end theme to Portal) - Jonathan Coulton and GLaDOS
Look at me still talking when there's science to do.
When I look out there it makes me glad I'm not you.
I've experiments to run
there is research to be done.

Stupid fanmixes, always throwing snogs at me!
Anyway! That is an excellent title, and I am going to sno - SNAG! SERIOUSLY, BRAIN. - snag the music from you and admire the pretty galaxy on the cover while I do so. I only know two of the songs, but I like them both (Short Skirt/Long Jacket - which is always going to mean Abby Sciuto to me, since the first time I heard it was a video about her - and Uninvited), so hopefully I'll find some new stuff to enjoy.
*pokes download* HURRY UP, stupid not-school internet speeds...
Golly, that was Freudian.
Short Skirt/Long Jacket is a very versatile song, and would be perfect for Abby. Do you still have the link to the video? Because if you do, I wouldn't mind seeing it.

(Cake and grief counseling will be available after your session. XD Even though it's being sung by a psychotic computer, I couldn't not include that song. Besides, more people need to hear it/own it.)
