Oof. See, this is why I avoid anything that even *looks* like it might have New!Fen around. For all we complain about the somewhat dodgy sixties and seventies, Nu Who has indeed fallen farther into the modern trap of limiting women because (supposedly) they're not interesting. Or something like that. Also, these people seem to be the usual thirteen-year-old fangirl type, regardless of actual age/sex. So, yes. ::hugs::

See, this is why I avoid anything that even *looks* like it might have New!Fen around.

I wish it wasn't like that, because really, it's just a vocal minority of crazies messing it up for the majority of sane fen out there. Usually, it's pretty easy to tell where the crazies are going to congregate, but occasionally you are, as I was, unprepared.

And it's more the fanon that's grossly unfeminist than the canon - I may object to every female companion being defined by her romantic feelings toward the Doctor, but certain contingents of fandom tend to carry this to its illogical extreme. But such are the hallmarks of any large fandom, I suppose.
