I've only seen about 3 CSI episodes, but I really did like this. I could apply it to characters in my other fandoms, and it really worked that way. I loved:

Such a convenient word, eventually. It let them push off reality and borrow time they didn’t have.

*squee* Oh, the angst, the heartbreaking angst of it all!

Why thank you! I'm especially glad that the second one turned out all right - that one was the trickiest for me to write, since I had to make extra sure that I wasn't going into melodrama mode.

Just curious, though - which other fandoms did you apply this to?

I had to go into AU mode a bit, but I can see this in an SVU, L&O TOS, or Without a Trace setting. Not so much that the problems are the same, but the angstiness (angstyness?) can be applied to those characters, too. :)

Hmmm...*squints and looks sideways* I'm still pretty new to Without a Trace, and so I know little of those characters and their angst, but yeah, I think I see what you're talking about. :)
