A couple of memes before I head back to college and don't see the light of day for another few weeks...

The first one:

Comment and I will:
1. Tell you why I friended you.
2. Associate you with something - a fandom, a song, a color, a photo, etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.

5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
6. Post my favorite userpic of yours.
7. In return, post this to your own LJ.

The second one:

Step One:
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Step Two- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

  1. Ah, hell, I may as well put the ridiculous one first: This.
  2. CSI Season 5, any season of The Muppet Show, any Doctor Who series, Old or New School, and/or Law and Order Season 13 (which isn’t actually out yet but shhh) on DVD. ‘Cause TV is shiny.
  3. A beta/Britpicker/Classic-canon-checker for my Who fic. Or just a beta, really – someone who will be brutally honest both from a grammatical, canonical, and story-structure standpoint.
  4. The means, incentive, time, and resources to finally rewrite and finish my first ever posted fanfic. Yes, self, you know it sucks now, but you made your very first fandom friends with that fic – you first dove into Internet fandom thanks to that fic. You owe it completion at least.
  5. To finally develop some functional social skills without having to give up the teeming Internet and fandom subcultures I’ve come to love. Impossible? Probably. But I want it, dammit.
  6. Some new books to read, or even some new book recommendations. It’s been a long time since I’ve read anything new, and while Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett keep me amused, it’s time to start branching out again. (Book rec guidelines: I’m not fond of horror, and I’m still quite squeamish, so I politely request that you not point me in the direction of King, Palahniuk, Rice, Poppy Z. Brite, and their ilk. Also, despite my love for romantic fanfic, I grow bored with romance novels unless they’re extraordinarily good and do something fresh and new with the genre. I enjoy fantasy and science fiction, but have fallen out with epic fantasy except in parody form – Diane Duane, Neil Gaiman, and the like are more my style. I adore crime fiction, mysteries, and intriguing life stories most of all. Rec away!)
  7. Speaking of recs, some fanfic recs would be nice – any of my fandoms, anything you think I’d like. I’m flexible. And hey, music recs would be nice too – again, anything you think I’d like, and my tastes are pretty diverse as far as music is concerned.
  8. Some simple, easy recipes, so that I can begin my cooking adventures. (Preferably recipes that don’t require anything other than a microwave, because that’s all that I’ve got in my dorm.)
  9. Fanart drawn to accompany my fanfic, or fanart that illustrates a scene from my fic.
  10. I’ll second what [profile] stellaluna_said, as well: any fic written with me in mind, regardless of the fandom or the specifics.
Music:: "Shooter" on TV
