Yes, these are late. I know. And I'm not even finished.
Not doing the 106 Questions meme because it's way too damn long.

You know the drill - say something random about this post, I'll respond with five questions that you have to answer in another journal post.
2. What's something you enjoy eating, but have trouble making?
3. Have you ever gotten any recognition (awards, publication, etc.) for your writing?
4. What's your favorite board game?
5. Do you collect anything? (or anything that you have enough of to *qualify* as a collection, even if you don't make a point of adding to it?)
1. Who was the first friend you added on LJ, and why?
My first friends on LJ were people I knew in real life, so it was probably somebody like pixxi or eladrin. Before the fannish squee began, my LJ was primarily a blog that I could use to keep in touch with my old friends once I left for college. I think the first non-real-life friend I added was
jeremybrettfan, because her pbp’s made me giggle and I was only just getting into Miami at that point. In fact, I think you may be partly responsible for my current Miami addiction. Be proud of yourself, dear. :)
2. What's something you enjoy eating, but have trouble making?
Probably sushi. But I don’t know if that counts because I always go out for sushi; I’ve never attempted to make it myself. Stir-fry would probably be closer, that or chicken noodle soup. My mommy has to make soup for me since I have never yet got it right (I left the chicken in too long the first time and the thing completely fell apart), but it’s so nice on a cold day, especially with those wheel-shaped noodles in them. Yes, I know the other noodles don’t really taste different, but still. I like it best with that shape.
3. Have you ever gotten any recognition (awards, publication, etc.) for your writing?
Not until recently, but since I got my job I’ve been published on the company website and in the newsletter, so that’s a good sign. I may even have an opinion piece published in a newspaper at some point, though that’s far from certain. Oh, and my senior independent project got a Meritorious grade (the highest grade possible), and my teacher’s recommended that I try to publish it, but that hasn’t worked out yet. Haven't found an interested party, and I'm ashamed to say I kind of gave up. But perhaps I can get to work on that again.
4. What's your favorite board game?
Scrabble, because I usually win. :) Vocab nerdity ftw!
Seriously, I don’t play board games as often as I’d like to, and nobody but me likes to play Scrabble, so I’ve learned to be satisfied with chess, Trivial Pursuit, or Monopoly (even though we’ve never finished a game). The one we end up actually playing most often is Risk, because my brother loves it, much to my chagrin.
5. Do you collect anything? (or anything that you have enough of to *qualify* as a collection, even if you don't make a point of adding to it?)
I have a new collection every few years, so…yeah. I'm a pack rat; having collections gives me an excuse to hang on to stuff forever and throw nothing away. As a kid, I collected rocks, seashells, and old coins, and I’ll still keep a coin or a rock if I find an interesting one. After that, I started collecting stamps, but gave up once all the old mail I was saving to remove the stamps started to pile up. Then I took a very brief stab at collecting antique mirrors; this quickly grew too expensive to maintain. Currently, I collect snowglobes, most of which are gifts from other people. I try to get one from wherever I go or where anyone else goes.

1. You can make any musical/Broadway show into a movie. Which do you pick and whom do you cast? (No fair picking one that's already been made.)
2. What is your favorite word, and why? It can be anything you want.
3. Name something that you'd change about the Pirates series. Would you change a plot point? Include/exclude a character? Ban one subplot from existence?
4. Do you play an instrument? If you have, which one and for how long? If you don't, would you like to? Which one would you play?
5. Are you happy or sad about the Duckling Situation on House? (Purposefully vague due to spoilers)

As for the interview...
1. HEE. Jeremybrettfan's the first fandom friend I added, too.
4. I think I'm the only person in the world who loves Scrabble and yet loses every time. Sometimes I think dumber friends would come in handy.

Actually, there are three, but one of them is my cell phone and not on my desk. :) I have three alarms set because one would be insufficient to get me out of bed. The first alarm is what wakes me up, but the second alarm is what transitions me from "semi-conscious, non-functional lump" to "conscious human being". My cell phone is on the other side of my room, so I'm forced to actually get out of bed to turn the alarm off.
And yet, I have managed to sleep though all of these. >__>
Sometimes I think dumber friends would come in handy.
XD
I think my Scrabble winning streak has less to do with vocabulary and more to do with my good luck in picking vowels. I'm completely screwed if I end up with a row full of Xs and Zs and Ws.

I wish I knew how to make sushi or bubbletea,

Knowing how to make sushi would save me so much money in restaurant checks. :) We should learn how to make it sometime.

1. It has to be asked...pirates or ninjas?
2. Would you rather learn to dance or sing? (By "learn", I mean learn to do it at a professional level.)
3. What's the first movie you remember seeing in theaters? How old were you? Did you like it?
4. Speaking of movies, have you ever stood in line for tickets, or to get into a movie? Have you ever gone to a really big opening-night or midnight screening? Which movies?
5. What would you change your name to if you could change it to anything? Would you want to change it at all?

2. Speaking of music, what was your absolute favorite part of the Stevie Nicks concert? (I am madly jealous that you got to go, by the way.)
3. You can make one food completely calorieless, allowing you to consume it guilt-free for as long as you want. Take your pick.
4. Why did you first get an LJ? How long ago was it?
5. Is there anything that deeply freaks you out but that nobody else seems to mind?

1. If money and cellular plan were no object, would you get an iPhone? Why/why not?
2. You can delete one book from existence. Now use your power wisely.
3. Least favorite word in the English language? Why?
4. What was the first story you remember writing? How old were you when you wrote it? What was it about?
5. On that note, name your ideal writing environment. Time, place, temperature, lighting, music or not...the works.

I apparently had a fascination with rocks when I was younger, too, because I found a *massive* bag of polished stones under my bed. I have easily twenty pounds of rocks sitting in a pile on my floor right now, cause I have no idea what to do with them
Pack rats ftw! *high fives*

A our Scrabble-Neon Monkey-Gingerbread Villa Party? XD Haha, there's just so many themes piling up. This party will be utterly fantabuloustical.
that might be because whenever I play anyone else, they're always very very drunk or very very high.
*giggle fit* "Dude, you can't do that. You can't use those tiles there."
"Why not?"
"Because Ungrthynt isn't a word, that's why."
"Well, if you just move these tiles around a little..."
"You can't move those, they're mine!"
Drunken Scrabble sounds deeply entertaining. Not as entertaining as Drunken Twister, though.

You could throw them at people. Or make a Zen garden. Or use them as garden decor for the gingerbread villa. The possibilities are endless.

I like how those two are polar opposites. :D

Ah, yes! Because rocks are versatile and useful things.
