I had a whole section that I was inspired to write but by the time I'd finished the scene the dialogue I was first inspired to write no longer fit with the tone of the scene. I was very sad about it.
"I - I can, but - " he steadies himself, wills his mind to focus. "Allura, hearing you talk about me like that - asking Shiro instead of me, like I'm not there - "
"Oh!" She stops moving abruptly which is the exact opposite of what he wanted. "I'm so sorry, I was just - I was only teasing, I hadn't even thought it would sound like that - "
"Allura," he interrupts her, his voice thin with need. "Allura, I love it."
"...oh." Its a very different oh this time.

Ugh, no wonder! I hate it when that happens. Sympathy!
Posting a thousand years later as always. >___>
Also yes it makes me feel so ambivalent when that happens because some of my wordcount is effectively wasted but...I mean...at least I wrote something? Better than nothing?

I think my lack of sleep is showing, I didn't realize how much I was paraphrasing you in the comment I left on your latest entry! But yeah, this is something I really struggle with too, especially since I'm not a fast writer -- but since I'm chipping away at a WIP that's a little more ambitious than my usual, I guess I'm trying extra hard to remember it right now.
