...your mom sounds like my mom. We should have a support group or something. ;P *hugs*

(I mean, not so much about grad school specifically. But the "ONOES you mustn't do X because Y!" where X is pretty cool and Y is either highly, HIGHLY unlikely (if it'd be a bad thing I want to avoid) or not as cool (if she's telling me I would want it to happen)... yeah.)
