Though personally I like to fanwank it as "sweet now she's a robot I feel so much less awkward having a crush on her"It was like an hour and a half drive to that job fair and then two more hours of sitting in line, I had to think about *something*. And it went okay, but...well, the only person who actually took a resume from me were the people I mentioned in that other entry. Bleh.
That is a really excellent point about the second story - there's not as much need for Bee to hide himself if Sari just doesn't remember who they are. And so far as them having adventures together - maybe Soundwave didn't think to program her to fear the Decepticons, at least any more than a person would normally freak out about huge robots destroying crap. And thus Bee can slowly try to reintroduce her memories, not by throwing her into combat obviously, but by having her relearn the ideas that hey, there are giant robots on Earth, and some of them are doing bad things, and it's our job to make sure they don't hurt your planet.
I really like the idea of having some of her memories remain gone even after the reprogramming, too. She's gone for much of the series, so it's not a huge stretch, and it allows for some nice scenes between her and the Autobots as she tries to re-learn what she's forgotten. And maybe at the very end her technopathy can come into it, like she'll start discovering it when she accidentally uses it on one of the Autobots - say, Bee - in order to see their memories and try to understand them. And that way it still mostly fits in canon but doesn't use a reset button. I really, really love it.
And you can still have Optimus withdrawing and considering just cutting himself and the Autobots out of her life now that it won't hurt her to do so, it'll just be for a different reason - like, after they've already decided to give her some space because they don't want to make things worse by trying to fix her, he starts thinking that maybe this is for the best before he discovers the reason behind the memory wipe. And that's why Bee gets angry enough at him to go AWOL and hide as Sari's mp3 player, because how could they even consider just leaving her?
Eeeee having Bee steal Cassette tech is a brilliant brilliant idea and I don't quite know how to implement it or how he'd get his hands on it (maybe some of Soundwave's machinery is still in the basement and he can figure it out from there? After all, there has to be a way to translate guitar!Laserbeak into the virtual world, right?) but it's amazing and somehow adorable and I love it. :D
Oh, no no, please don't feel obligated or anything. Talking ideas through is an enormous help and a lot of fun besides, and I appreciate you taking the time to do so!
