Finals? Shpfff. New TV is much more important.

I've decided that I'm going to do breif reviews of all the TV I've seen, since I'm over two weeks backlogged and I simply don't have time for my usual five-page dealie per show. I haven't got those done yet, either, so for now, a few thoughts on the second-to-last new Miami and the third-to-last new SVU of the season (I didn't catch all of third-to-last new CI, and nobody on my flist watches it but me, so I'll hold off on that). These thoughts may show up, possibly word for word, in my quick reviews later this week.

CSI: Miami, "Kill Switch":

It makes me so happy when CSI: Miami is good. It makes me even happier when it's good two weeks in a row. Dare I hold out hope for a firecracker of a season finale? I think I do. At least, it better be, to make up for the flagrant Bad Science that has already made itself known. *gives TWTB the stink-eye*

So why, exactly, was everyone all up in arms over a non-lethal carjacking? The guy beat up this girl and took her car; he didn't even seriously injure her. I don't think that really demands that the community rise up and punish him with death.

That aside, the plotline of this episode reminds me of why I used to watch Miami to begin with - it had plenty of twists and turns and sudden reversals of fortune, and the suspects were...well, okay, so they were obnoxious rich people this week, but at least they weren't quite as obnoxious as the drug-addled, oversexed Wisteria Lane folk from the previous episodes (Why yes, "Broken Home", I AM looking at you).

And Ryan has the quickest personality turnaround in television history, going from pompous asshaberdashery to repentant responsibility in 42 minutes, plus commercial breaks. Wow. Now can we ban him from ever wearing that awful purple tie ever again? Thanks.

Best scene of the episode was Eric, practically doing a happy dance over how he was going to take Ryan's discovery to the judge. It's so nice to see him cracking jokes again.

Law and Order: SVU, "Annihilated":

Elliot? Honey? I'm terrified of you. Really. Still love you and all that, but holy shmuck do you scare me. Also, since there's no mention of your...unorthodox interrogation-chamber techniques in the teaser for the next episode, I'm left to assume that this, like all of your other anger issues, is not going to be addressed, reprimanded, or even paid attention to. You nearly snapped a guy's neck. I find that somewhat hard to believe. There's only so much slack Cragen can give you, Elliot.

I figured the father had to be the one to shoot his children, even though his greif was fairly convincing, simply because the episode was less than half over. Still, that guy was creepy. Very very creepy. I enjoyed the case this week, mostly because of him. He seemed almost convinced, in spite of proof to the contrary, that he hadn't killed his children and wife.

Wife was pretty scary too, for that matter. I kind of thought she was going to explode. Sad thing is, she didn't seem all that unrealistic to me - I actually know quite a few moms like her.

Also, Maureen Stablerette? Your parents' sex life is really none of your business. And it's not as simple as "come home or don't".

Speaking of which, I’m still questioning whether or not we really needed that scene between Elliot and Kathy. Not that I entirely mind the sight of Chris Meloni in the buff, but…you know. The (small) part of my brain that wasn’t vacuously drooling was yelling “Hey! HEY! There’s no sex on SVU!!....wait.”

More later - I have a lot of TV-related thoughts stored up, particularly as they pertain to season finales, timeslot hanges, and (sob) possible cancellations. But that must wait for another day.

Yeah, I was pretty much thumbs up for this eppy too, despite the repetitive Stabler!Rage hitting its stride once more. And while I like Elliot/Kathy (if for no other reason than it shuts some of the crazed EO fanbrats - not shippers, necessarily, because they aren't all psychos- up for a while) the scene seemed a bit drawn out, and I had a hard time getting over the wonky techno background music. They could've left us with a simple naked + bed equation, because if you're watching SVU, chances are you can make that connection. Overall, it was OK, and the Munch scenes made me happy. Not great, but considering this season, not terrible.

The fact that Munch was in this episode at all made me happy. Of course, it also reminded me how much I miss him when he's gone. *sigh*

It did strike me as a little...lengthy, particularly just before Elliot gets into bed. Personally, I think the scene could have ended when Kathy turned the lights off; that still would have gotten the point across.

As you said, not bad. Not bad at all. And I comfort myself with the knowledge that the season finale has to focus at least partly on Fin, who's been absent almost as long as Munch has. Longer, I think.

Yes, Ryan's tie must be banned. For the good of the nation, really. Now, as for Law & Order:

The (small) part of my brain that wasn’t vacuously drooling was yelling “Hey! HEY! There’s no sex on SVU!!....wait.”

XD You crack me up. Although I think I might have said the same thing. I'm still wearing a "WTH?" expression trying to decide if my reaction to it is positive or negative.

By the way, I watch Criminal Intent sometimes...occasionally...*mumbles* twice a season. Still, at least I'd know who you were talking about.

I'm still in shock over the fact that there was a sex scene on any Law and Order show at all - for all they talk about it, it's just sort of an unspoken assumption that we're never going to see it happen. So, like you, I still haven't really decided if this was a good scene or not.

I end up watching CI reruns far more often than I watch new episodes, so I don't talk about it all that much. The Tuesday @ 9 pm timeslot is sort of inconvenient for me; I always end up coming in halfway (like I did tonight).

Shock, yes, that's a good description for the rest of my reaction. By the way...can I quote the bit I italicized above in my own review? (I seem to be on a quoting kick today. I don't know why.)

(just the end of it, the part that's already in quotes.)
