710 Verbal, 640 Quantitative. Have to wait to hear back from the testing center to get my Essay score, but still, not bad for a first try. And the essay section was pretty easy compared to the essays I had to write back in Collegeland.
So, yeah, not as scary as I thought. I should probably take it again after studying some more, but still.
So I figure I can probably take tomorrow after my pre-op appointment and finish my late
springkink fics, but I also completely struck out what I had of the first one, so now I'm back to square one. Hopefully this version will be more compact.

I've always wondered: how much harder is the GRE than the SAT? I'm still not real clear on the format; from the surrounding vibe I always assumed it was knowledge-based questions like specific plot points in a Shakespeare play, but is it more like the SAT, just kicked up a notch in difficulty? Because if so then I'm baffled as to why it strikes terror into people's hearts.

It's not as much harder than the SAT than I thought; it really is the SAT kicked up a couple of notches, and I assumed (like you did) that it would be much more detail-oriented and knowledge-based. That said, even the vocab section (which I'm normally pretty good at) was still pretty hard; the words they selected were things that I've never heard used, and the analogies were a lot more obscure. But it's the same type of thing, yeah.

So, good job!

Ugh, the fee is a big roadblock. If it wasn't $160, I'd probably take it again now that I'm familiar with the test and the sorts of questions that are on it, but do I really want to spend that much money for what might not be that great of a point increase?
