Apparently the TV can connect to YouTube.

It can also play videos full-screen.

I am watching Umineko on an enormous screen right now, compared to my laptop. It's large and colorful and I can read the subtitles and I can see everyone's faces and it's in high-definition and oh, George. Oh, Shannon. Oh, everyone. I will have to make a more detailed post later.

And the best part is I think I actually have a few guesses as to what's going on and why and how things are going to be explained, and eeeee I'm watching it on a huge screen. Why have I not been doing this every day? Heck, even if mom isn't a big fan of my creepy murder mysteries I can at least watch the rest of Beast Wars or Shadow Raiders in high-def!

Oh, right, because I've been writing cover letters, which I should technically return to because I have two pending applications to send out. Cheerio

:D :D :D My TV can do that too, although I don't use it (our Blu-Ray player accepts USB of all things, so I just download things and voila), but oh how we are living in the future. Also, Umineko! :D :D :D :D :D How far are you? Because I can promise that probably not as many things will explained as you are hoping, no matter where you are.

Ours takes USB as well (it's what I used to bore everyone with my vacation photos), but I use my drives mostly for documents so I haven't shown anything on it. Now that I think about it, though, that might give me a higher video quality for some of my shows (Umineko may be nice and crisp, but things like Shadow Raiders, with all that CGI, occasionally has compression and lag issues). A-downloading I go!

I am watching TV, on the internet, on TV. I cannot get over it.

I have finished episode 8 and was in the middle of episode 9 when my parents came home and commandeered the TV, so...not very far, really. But Maria has something to do with it! I kind of predicted that either Battler would use her to disprove Beatrice by saying that Maria "created" or "imagined" Beatrice to cope with the way Rosa treated her, but now I kind of think that whatever's going on with Shannon and Kanon (being the Ushiromiya family's "furniture" and thus being...magical or immortal or encountering the same kind of time loop as Battler) is also going on with Maria - she's connected to Beatrice somehow, either as another witch or she's a "pawn" of Beatrice's placed in the family as part of the bargain. Or, um, something. MARIA HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT. Clearly I am smart.

Of course, that was before the red text of truth showed up and I had to spend a couple of minutes processing that, because I mean she's a witch, if she has that kind of metatextual control then obviously she could just say anything she wanted to in red text, but challenging that would mean accepting that she's a witch and would mean that Battler would lose the game, but then maybe she actually can't lie in red text, we don't know how far her fourth-wall powers extend and aaaagh, Umineko you keep screwing with me and I wouldn't have it any other way.

It's how I've been showing my parents Doctor Who for a while now. *g* Technology, it marches on.

Maria's involvement in the whole magic business is...complicated. As is everything really but you may have figured that out by now. How Shannon and Kanon (and Genji) know that the timeline is repeated is never really explained, or even mentioned very often, not even in the VN; mostly I just shrug it off because, well, Umineko. And ahahahaha the red text ohhhh the red text. By far the greatest way Beatrice created to fuck with Battler's head. *g* As far as I know, she really can't lie with it, although of course there's more to disguising the truth than directly lying...there's actually some really great stuff with that that's only in the VN; no spoilers, but at one point she's just hardcore stomping Battler into the ground and red-says things like "I'll love you forever and make you my toy until you turn to ashes". WELL THEN, BEATRICE. ("You are incompetent" is another one of my favorites.)

omigosh, my dad just figured out how to do that last week! Thursday night he made me and 2 friends watch glider plane videos, of all things.

But he is a fair-minded individual so he let me make him watch the Weapon of Choice video. :D

Is this maybe a Dad thing? Like, some people have a midlife crisis and decide they must have a car, suburban dads have a midlife crisis and decide they must have a shiny multifunction TV.

But he is a fair-minded individual so he let me make him watch the Weapon of Choice video.

I have recently discovered that my brother has not yet seen this video. I think I know what I'm doing tomorrow afternoon. :D

How do you do that, she asked, intrigued?

I'm...not entirely certain? It involves pressing some buttons on two different remotes to set the TV to the correct input. But, a while back, my Dad decided that instead of a fancy car or anything he wanted a really shiny huge TV, so we ended up with a Sony Bravia that I think has the built-in ability to connect with YouTube and other video sites like DailyMotion via your home wireless network. If you set the TV to HDMI Input 1, the list of available functions (including CD and MP3 play) come up, and one of those options is YouTube/Internet video. from there, you just "type" what you want into the search box like you're writing a text message and click whichever video you want.

It just occurred to me that since DailyMotion has *cough* other things I'm interested in, my dad might now get to watch his favorite arc of Doctor Who (the Key to Time) whenever he wants. :D
