stunt_muppet: (I have the dumb)

Turns out I have substantially fewer than the 50 insects required for my bug collection for Entomology and probably only a few warm days to get them.

Also the bugs I stored in my freezer managed to harden to the point of being nearly unpinnable despite the fact that they're not supposed to do that when they freeze, ruining at least one bug in my collection and probably taking a dent out of my grade. Which is already looking a bit dented at this point what with the essay and my failure to set up a research project.

Also I appear to have contracted a cold of some sort. Just congestion and a bit of sore throat, though, so I at least don't think it's swine flu.

And I have a test on Tuesday.

This would call for a FML if it wasn't balanced out by a) Mom coming over this weekend, b) Renaissance Fair this Sunday, and c) showing J Batman and finding she liked it, hurrah.

Also I managed 400 words in 11 minutes on Write or Die last night. I mean, they were 400 really stupid words (at one point I just typed "William Tecumseh Sherman" over and over because his name sounds funny and I was stuck for anything else to write), but they were words nonetheless, and that's still more productive than I've been this year for the most part. Hopefully some small kernels of meaning will emerge that I can salvage for the [livejournal.com profile] dw_femslash ficathon that I haven't started yet, hem hem.

Despite lack of writing I'm still so very tempted to sign up/request for Yuletide. I can't decide what I'd request (Batman would be one of them, definitely, but would the others be Wall-E or Middleman or Monk or Burn Notice or King's Quest or SCP or what?) and I'm not in very many small fandoms (and those that I'm "in" I don't participate in in any meaningful way), but still, Brave and the Bold fic. There is a chance someone might write Batman/Aquaman for me. Or Huntress/Blue Beetle. The mere thought is dizzying.

Going off to take a hot shower and brew a hot cup of tea, even though the weather is actually very nice today.

*sniffle*

Do you have to catch the bugs in the wild? Pet stores, fishing supply shops, and Home Depot sell insects like crickets, worms, flies, and ladybugs.

Yeah, they have to be caught - buying them doesn't count (though I suppose I could, ah, neglect to mention that I bought them). Besides, he did a little demonstration at the beginning indicating that he knew what packaged insects looked like and wouldn't be fooled. :(
