The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about one another. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.
In other news, I went to bed at 8 p.m. last night, directly after I showered. This left me with no dinner and an awful case of bed hair but I haven't felt this awake in weeks. Probably there is a lesson to be learned here.
Also I tried compiling a list for the "100 songs by female artists or bands fronted by women" meme a couple of days ago, only to discover, to my dismay, that I don't think I actually have 100 different ladies on my iTunes library. I hadn't realized until then that electronic music (which makes up a lot of my library) is such a man's game. Which is a shame, since the anonymity of the artist in electronic should make it a gender-neutral genre, but the only female electronic artist I can think of off the top of my head is Laurie Anderson. And Enigma, who only gets in there because they consistently use one or two female vocalists and some songs are co-produced by a woman (Enigma's music is written and produced primarily by a man). [ETA} And Goldfrapp! I forgot Goldfrapp, how very dare I. The band's named after the female lead singer, after all. Hmm.

Oddly, when there is a woman involved with an electronic group, she's almost always the singer; the bands that have mostly lyricless or only sampled/guest vocals are almost all men (whether that group has one or more people in it). Very strange.

By the way, there's one quite lovely song (which I'm pretty sure qualifies as electronica) here, "Signatures," by a (female) friend of a friend on MySpace. Maybe you'd like it? Your post reminded me of its existence; I hadn't heard it in a couple years but it's still my favorite.

I can't make it play. :( I'm not sure if it's an issue with my Flash player or because I don't have a MySpace, but now I'm all curious. Do you have any other means of accessing it?

See, I can more than do the character list but holy crap, I really don't see that happening.

I'd been contemplating getting an LJ for a while by that point, but had backed out because I couldn't think of a name, and the concept of a stunt Muppet was so absurd and perfect that I had to use it as a name. The purple fellow in my default icon is Sparky, which is the reason I never change the default - it seems disrespectful to bump my namesake off the icon list.
