100. The grandmother on the porch (Gran Torino). (Why? Because she yells invective at Clint Eastwood to his face, that’s why.)

Lessons Learned: A rather large percentage of this list comes from Doctor Who. I should probably start watching more TV skiffy, since it tends to have a higher ratio of female characters than cop dramas do. Also it means I'd get Janeway.

Also my reading tastes are incredibly lowbrow. I do read real literature, I really do, but I tend not to get fannish about it or attached to the characters in the same way.

And now I should do work or shower or go outside or something.

Ha! You and my bro would get along just fine. He's got a crush on Jill Valentine something fierce. ;-)

I love Jill unreasonably. She manages to weather a zombie apocalypse in a tube top and boots *and* beat the Nemesis, pretty much all by her lonesome. I was a bit sad that she didn't get to do much in RE5.

Great, am now having a crisis in which I'm not sure whether I love Marisol Delko or Connie Rubirosa more, or if I love them equally enough to put both characters on my own list (the doing of which is, of course, clearly imperative, despite how daunting it is when I consider my vast history of fandoms).

High-five for including Rachel, though. I would have forgotten her by this point. Anamaria I actually did forget. (as for Evey...YES. Bonus points for her inclusion)

Dodo Chaplet? I feel like I would have remembered a character named "Dodo," even from reading about her in passing...

Gah, I knew I'd left of somebody! (And Yelina Salas, too, now that I look over the list.)

It made me very sad that Anamaria wasn't in the rest of the Pirates movies. I can only conclude that she realized Captain Jack had gone even more wacky than usual and got out while the getting was good, thus saving herself from a messy Kraken-y fate. And the wholes reason I didn't go see the third Mummy movie (aside from it doing the same Mysterious Chinese People thing as every other movie that year and the lack of Ardeth Bey) was that Evey had been recast. You can't just *do* that! Say she's off on an expedition or something if Rachel Weiss is that determined not to come back! *pout*

Dodo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodo_Chaplet) was a very short-lived companion of the First Doctor; she didn't even get a proper exit, unfortunately, being written out halfway through her last episode. But I still rather love her, as she's sprightly and adventurous and is an adorable granddaughter-figure for the Doctor and wears interesting clothes. "Dodo" is short for "Dorothea".

I'm looking forward to seeing your list! *claps*

Hee! I love your theories on Anamaria - I really thought she was great and was sad we never saw her again. We also have equal beliefs on the third Mummy movie (my parents got it from the library this week. I still wouldn't watch it).

Aw. Dodo seems cute, based on that one color picture and the general description. Too bad about the lack of exit.

Funnily enough, I didn't realize until I checked TV Tropes that she was played by the same actress as played Uhura in the new Trek movie! Huh. She does a good British accent; I couldn't tell she wasn't British.

She was cute! And she got very snuggly with Steven, the other companion at the time. And then she's never spoken of again except for a tie-in novel that kills her off in the most mean-spirited manner possible. It's...possible that some of my Dodo!love is defensive because even the show writers seem to hate her, ahem.

99!!! I forgot about her, since I was Not Interested in the reboot movie because the original is such a lovely piece of Cold War silliness.

Also, I was unaware that Dodo's real name is Dorothea. Her and Ace!Dorothy should maybe have a party sometime.

Reboots are, shamefully, how I get into fandoms (comics, Who, superhero movies, the like), so I didn't feel too guilty about seeing the movie first. It's not bad, really. It's serviceable as a spy caper and Alan Arkin's quite good in it. But yeah, I did quite like their version of 99. She kicks people in the face when they tell her she's unfeminine and that's something I can get behind.

It is! She only mentions it once, but it's on her page on the DW main site at the BBC, I think. And I'd love to read fic about her and Ace, though I think Dodo's a little posh and perky for Ace's tastes (though she seemed to get along with Mel okay). Still, Ace might find Dodo's excursion into the Wild West cool.

(Really, I'd just read any fic about Dodo that doesn't drop a bridge on her the way the tie-in novels do. I don't care how short her tenure was, she didn't deserve that. >:( )

EVE. <3 And..there's a Janis Ian in Mean Girls? People say that name, I think of hippies.

She was the nonconformist girl who first befriends the protagonist! And she was sarcastic and artistic and did a Xena war cry at one point. I love her. :D

Firefly is really good with its women. Four diverse characters who are actual people instead of romantic/sex objects and have whole stories to themselves and everything? Sign me up!
