Apparently, mashups between Rammstein and t.A.t.U are practically a subgenre in and of themselves, given the sheer number of YouTube vids devoted to such concoctions (of varying quality; the "Mein Herz Brennt"/"Pokazhi mne lubov" mashup in this vid's my favorite of the lot).
I really don't know what to do with this revelation.
Also you know how I keep talking about writing a second chapter to Made Up Your Mind? I typed up most of a potential second chapter today. It ended up...odd. And kind of gross. And the Master's in it for some reason. And for some reason I decided to really get my body-horror on.
Two thoughts:
1) I HAVE BEEN WATCHING TOO MANY EVANGELION VIDS PLEASE SEND HELP. It's not my fault that a good 60% of all the AMVs that get recced to me are from Eva! I can't be blamed if it starts bleeding through!
Have any of you ever watched Evangelion? Is it as demented as it looks? Should I just watch it and get it overwith and get some of my geek cred back?
2) I could write cracked-out dream sequences forever. They're probably some of the most fun I've had while writing.
And it is time to do some work.

(It's weird - in movies and stuff I find body horror unbearably icky and it's the kind of thing that makes me flail and say "ew" a lot, and yet I love writing it. And even reading it in fics. Huh.)
P.S. Any chance you've had the opportunity to peek at the chapter 3 outline? No hurry or anything, since I know you're probably tres busy, but I thought I'd mention it since I'm annoying like that.

Ok, so what happens is that Jim ends up on the alien planets and gets kidnapped, whatever, and he's knocked out and they perform surgery on him. How/why, idk. I'll figure it out later. So anyways, the Enterprise finally gets him back and Bones realizes that they gave Jim a sex-change operation. Only, it's not all that successful (probably on par with 20th C operations, come to think of it.) They installed female genitalia fairly neatly, and even went so far as to widen his hips and pubic bones some, but he still has heavy musculature. His breasts are small and still growing, so they're very tender and have dark stretch marks.
Jim's belly is distended just slightly; further investigation reveals that he has a uterus, and something is in it. Turns out the aliens surgeons saved his penis and testicles and bundled them up in the biological equivalent of a stay-fresh plastic baggie, then stuck them in his faux-uterus like it was a freezer.
Naturally, Kirk is really freaked out by all of this. His balance is off so he can't do hand-to-hand combat like he's used to, he's not hot anymore (and considering how often TOS Kirk uses his sexual allure as a tool, this is a big deal), and he just can't figure out masturbation. The process of arousal and climax is so different in women that, although Jim is an expert from all the het sex he's had, he gets completely freaked out and can't get anything to feel good. He doesn't know what it's supposed to feel like, even, and just gives up. Kirk ignores his body, hides the changes as best he can, and doesn't let anyone but Bones touch him.
Basically, it's a gender-switch fic where Kirk isn't magically, painlessly transformed into an equally-hot female version of himself, and he doesn't "take advantage" of the new body to have multiple orgasms.

Anyway, on the one hand your description leaves me feeling squirmy and uncomfortable but also intrigues me since it engages with ideas of physicality and its role in gender identity a lot more directly than most genderswap fics do, in addition to emphasizing (which most fics don't, again) how *weird* and revolting it would be if it actually happened. Which is the sign of good body horror, obviously. I'm all impressed and like, and am curious to see where this would go. :D
(I am curious as to how the organ-baggie in the uterus is going to interfere with menstruation, since if he has the hormone treatments needed to develop breasts I'm assuming there'll be enough in there to trigger a period. And also how the priciple of keeping the organs refrigerated works since inside the body is a rather warm place. Unless they've got an icepack in there as well, which I think would push it a little further from "horrifying" and a bit more towards "absurdly funny".)

Calling it a freezer was a misleading metaphor, soz. It's more like Kirk's uterus functions as an incubator or life support machine. It provides nutrients to the dismembered penis via the placenta and provides a sort of "penis heart"-- a pumping mechanism which closes the gap in the vascular system and keeps blood flowing. Kirk does not menstruate because, as far as his body is concerned, he's pregnant.
There are many phrases in that paragraph that I never thought I'd say.

A) Yes. I've seen the entire original series plus End of Eva. Haven't seen the reboot, though (but I heard it's less nihilistic.)
B) HOLY SHIT YES. Though the craziest crazy doesn't snap in until End of Eva in my opinion.
C) Sure. Though be warned that the dude who was making it was dealing with depression, which explains A LOT about the show. You may want to watch something very happy and cheerful afterwards in order to make you feel better about it.
If you're on the fence, though, TV tropes can probably help you decide.

PS This entry has prompted me to go looking for the Eva reboot, because I'd realized that I did kind of want to see what changes putting Anno in therapy have wrought.

I dunno, the mashup vid already had Giant Naked Glowing Rei, Asuka getting eaten, and tumors with grinning faces, and then the Nightmare vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_y8G8dAnn8) already has Lilith and the Reiquarium and, well, Gendo. I'm not sure how much further into WTF you can go.
