I'm apparently determined not to do anything today.

Despite having an essay due tomorrow. Bleh.

The unguessed lines from the movie quotes meme:

3. “Well, I suppose if I had wanted a safe life, I wouldn't have married a man who studies rocks.” - The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, a charming movie released a few years ago that mocks 50's B-movies by imitating them, right down to the rubber monster costume, nonsensical dialogue, and filming in Bronson Canyon. I'm not surprised nobody got this one, as I appear to be one of five people who has seen it.

5. “Hey...you're a talker. What's a good word, a solid word for "need"?”
“Well, "need" is a good, solid word.”
“Nah. Too needy.” - Hellboy, one of my personal favorites in the superhero-movie genre, with very well-acted characters. Hellboy's adolescent awkwardness around his love interest is one of my favorite things about the movie.

6. “Although I've dedicated my life to God and His goodness, I secretly love throwing oranges at our priest.” - The Fall, which I know a few of you have seen. If you haven't, it's a lush and beautiful story-within-a-story that's mostly about storytelling and how the stories we tell reflect on us.

7. “When your mind becomes obsessed with anything, you will filter everything else out and find that thing everywhere.” - Pi, a black-and-white movie about a man who's obsessed with finding mathematical patterns in nature and thinks he's discovered the secret name of God. Or something. It's a puzzling movie, and comes down on the "fascinating" side of the "fascinating"/"irritating" divide.

16. “Do you ever have a normal day?”
“Yeah. Once. It was a Thursday.” - I, Robot. Oh, shush, it's hardly the least accurate Asimov adaptation out there. And Alan Tudyk turned in a marvellous performance as Sonny. So there.

17. “Now in these last agonizing minutes of life you have left, let me answer the question you asked earlier more thoroughly. Right at this moment, the biggest "R" I feel is Regret. Regret that maybe the greatest warrior I have ever known, met her end at the hands of a bushwhackin, scrub, alky piece of shit like you. That woman deserved better.” - Kill Bill, vol. 2. I actually sort of like Tarantino. I think he could stand to tone down the gore in his movies, but he writes a nice monologue.

19. “You, slave, will be torn apart by horses, to the plaudits of the troops and the amusement of the children.” - A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Another one I'm sort of surprised nobody got.

20. “The truly extraordinary is not permitted in science and industry. Perhaps you'll find more luck in your field, where people are happy to be mystified.” - The Prestige. David Bowie as Nikola Tesla, yo. What's not to like?

A closing note: Voltaire's "When You're Evil" is rather fun. And it positively invites fanvids. :D

FURTHER ICON LOVE. I would be a Tesla groupie. XD

My favorite quote ever from Prestige has got to be Cutter's opening "are you watching closely?" monologue, but it seemed a bit obvious, so hey, quoting Bowie!Tesla is never a bad idea.

*facepalms* I should have got 20! I love The Prestige!

It is rather excellent. I keep forgetting whether I like it or The Illusionist better, but Prestige does have Bowie!Tesla in its favor.
