Two mini-picspams, actually, but the other one's not themed.
Anyway, someone on the anonmeme started a picspam thread about hugs and kisses, in honor of the date. Alas, the Tragical History Tour and Shillpages, while quite adequate most of the time, don't contain images of some of my favorite Who-related hugs, so I got to screencapping. And I thought I'd share the caps here, in case anyone else wanted them and because picspams are just an all-around good thing.
The picspam's based on whatever DVDs I could grab at the moment (so no *cough* otherwise aquired stories) and which I already knew well enough to fast-forward to the hug, cap it, and move on (so no new-ish serials or serials I own but haven't seen yet). One, Two, and Three era (I don't believe my Four DVDs contain many hugs at all, which is a shame), heavy on the monochrome.
Enjoy!

One and Vicki are ever so cute. Really, One's just adorable in general. Sometimes I forget that, and then I watch The Crusades again.

Poke!

*squeezums*

Dodo is really very pretty. It makes me sad that the only story she has left is the one with her unceremonious and horrible exit after two episodes. Curse the burnination, curse it forever.
ETA: No, wait, she's also got The Gunfighters, as
primsong reminded me. Still, though, that's not a lot.

And Steven is really quite handsome as well, while we're on the subject. Nice tush, too.
The Toymaker, while awesome, is not part of this hug.

I couldn't cap the moment when she gives him a full-on cling, as she was moving quite fast and all the caps ended up blurred. But this one, I think, suffices. So cute.

You can't really see her because the image quality's poor (it's a video someone took off the TV screen), but that's a Steven/Dodo hug going on. A very sad Steven/Dodo hug, because Steven's leaving. Poor Dodo. :(

The Doctor is sad about it, too, and clings to his surrogate granddaughter for comfort.

Two/Polly hugs, hurrah!

Oh, like I needed an excuse for the Macra Terror screamcling.

Alas, Two/Jamie seems determined to elude me - every screencap I took of their clinging turned out blurry or wonky-looking, at least for Tomb of the Cybermen (I didn't check The Mind Robber, as I was trying to get as many screencaps in as fast as I could; perhaps another time I shall picspam The Mind Robber specifically, with an emphasis on the Two/Jamie Epic Love, to make up for my cruel neglect). Even getting a shot of Victoria's hug was damn near impossible, given how much she's moving in that scene. But I did manage to get this one.
Note to self: Tomb of the Cybermen picspam is in order as well. Or possibly just a Two/Jamie picspam.

Three and Liz only get one hug (I think?) , but it's a really really epic hug so I'm okay with that.

Oh, shush, it's the closest they get to a hug, it totally counts.

Also, I had to cap it, because in all the frillion times I've watched Inferno I've never got through this scene without giggling. "Pompous, self-opinionated idiot, I believe you said, Doctor?"

And we end with the hug from The Sea Devils, which is always a good place to end.
Now, for the second mini-picspam: The Heart Truth Red Dress Show is a fashion show (with presumably some sort of fundraiser component?) in which actresseses strut around modelling shiny red dresses designed by famous people. The AOL news feed had pictures, and while I'd hardly consider myself a fashionista, I do love looking at pretty people in pretty clothes, so I gave it a shot.
And I was treated, unexpectedly, to Linda Carter being almost unspeakably fabulous.

Just...look at that. That's the pose of someone who's gorgeous, and who's been gorgeous for decades, and who knows she's been gorgeous for decades. Oh, Linda.
Unfortunately, it only occured to me to take a few screencaps of the images before I was called away to go to class, and now I can't find the news item with the pictures anymore. But I think the two I have speak for themselves quite eloquently.

And she's got a sense of humor, too.

Pose like you're awesome, Linda. Because you are.
And, on that note, I depart to engage in some actual social activity, so as not to spend Valentine's Day entirely on my own. Good night!

Dude, Three and Liz kinda look like they're making out right there.

In any other show ever, that hug at the end of Inferno would have been a big, triumphant Victory Snog. Which is one of the reasons I love that hug a lot.

Wow, I never realized how epic that Three and Liz hug was - must go watch Inferno again!

Watching Inferno again is always a good course of action. :D And yeah, every so often on DW you get hugs that you know on any other program ever would be at least a kiss if not a big triumphant snog, and the hug at the end of Inferno is one of them. Which is kind of why I love it. *g*

...it's just like that scene in Episode 4 of Pyramids of Mars where Sarah would totally have kissed the Doctor if this were any other show, you know?
(no subject)
And I agree with you that hugging where other shows would have kissed makes it better somehow. It gives us more options, mostly. Also, Three is such a mad player that he doesn't even *need* to kiss the ladies. They feel it psychically.

Exactly! There's more room for interpreting hugs however you like, and some of the hugs are just so damn epic and squooshy that no kissing is even needed.
"Psychic kissing" makes me think of EVE in WALL-E, for some reason. Although that'd be more like *static* kissing, I suppose.

And of course you did!
