1. Happy birthday,
eryaforsthye!
2. DAMMIT, LJ, Scrapbook has the most bleeding unhelpful interface I have EVER SEEN. I think I just deleted about half my images, but the nutty thing is I can't even tell for certain. And setting up galleries should not be this difficult, augh.
3. Apparently, John Levene is going to be at Gallifrey One this year. This is in addition to all the other guests, including Wendy Padbury, Frazer Hines, Colin Baker, Nicola Bryant, and PAUL FREAKING CORNELL. Why do I not have the time and money for this, why why why.
One day. One day I will have a convention attendance to my name. I feel like there's this whole huge slice of geek culture that I'm missing out on, and everyone I know who's been talks about how fun they are.
4. Memes, because they're fun (this one stolen from
kindkit ): Name one or more characters from any of my fandoms, and I'll tell you every pairing I've ever written them in, read them in, or even just thought about.
That's all for now.

Okay memery... in honor of John Levene's presence at Gally, how about favorite pairings for Benton?
(no subject)
For some reason, I always think of Benton as harboring a quiet crush on everybody. I haven't written him yet, except in Memory, which is genfic (but I shall!), but I've read Brig/Benton, Benton/Yates, and

Now I think I will go read Benton fic when I get home. Excellent! By Memory, do you mean The Memory Always Lies, because I do hope you return to that awesome premise some day. All in good time, of course.

Conveying my own love for Shalka is one of the reasons I want to meet Paul Cornell. That, and to argue a bit with him on the Time Monster daisy vs. the rose in the Human Nature and Timewyrm novels, although doing so would mean I'd have to, you know, read them first, which I've totally already done, ahem.
And yes, that's what "Memory" refers to. And I've been working on it periodically since then, but I've run into this problem where Chapter 2 will not *end* already. But I've only got a couple scenes left to do, and I did a bit of work on them today, so hopefully I should get Chapter 2 up before a bleeding year passes. :P

...I've written Benton/Rose too, but I'm not the only one who's done that! Doyle did it too when writing in a ficathon for me damnit.
In conclusion: I love Benton. :D

And, hey, there is more Benton-fic in the world because of you, which is something to be quite proud of because the man just doesn't get nearly enough ficcish love. So go you!

I went on a huge Benton kick at one point, if you can't tell. I still love him but I tend to be fickle in who I fic frequently, so lately it's Hex, heh. I loved going back to Benton for the Sarah/Harry/Benton one, though. I do want to write another Rose/Benton someday - I actually ship it even more than Martha/Harry - only it's easier to write Martha/Harry because they are in the same flippin' universe, hee.

when I'm not supposed to be doing Ecology reading!I do the exact same thing as regards fic - focusing on one character at a time, rotating my focus occasionally, that sort of thing - so I know what you mean. And besides, that means more Hex-fic and more Hex-fic =/= bad thing. :D And yeah, Rose's storyline sort of eliminates any of the convenient narrative gaps you can fit fic into, unless it's fic in the alt!verse. Why don't the writers' think of the fic when they write these things, honestly? :P

3. *petpetpet* No hurry - whenever you get the chance. I only got to my first convention - a Gallifrey - last year.
Funnily enough, for those late-staying Gally types, Levene did actually make it to that Gallifrey - but only because people were gathering at the Marriott for the fan-cruise, which he was taking part in.
4. Jo Grant.

Maybe I'm just doing it wrong, but it's terribly confusing.
3. Thanks. And I'm sure - well, I hope - I'll be able to go at some point, but I am impatient. :) It cracks me up that there's a fan *cruise*, however. I think that's next on my list after going to a convention.
4. Despite only writing her in one ship (Jo/Three) I ship Jo with quite a lot of people - I've read Jo/Benton, Jo/Yates, and Jo/Rose, and was writing the latter for someone's Fandom Stocking before I ran out of time. My random crackships for her are Jo/Victoria and Jo/Jamie; I think she'd be so good to Victoria as she learns to adjust to her new life and new time (how they actually meet is, er, never quite clear), and Jo/Jamie...well, it could either be very angsty (the Doctor gives in to temptation and fetches Jamie and Zoe out of time, and it's Jo that a very confused and somewhat angry Jamie turns to - because the Doctor who retrieves him isn't the Doctor he knows) or very fluffy (Two and Three travel together again during Season 6B and Jamie and Jo gang up to tease their Doctors whenever they do something stupid), but either way I think it'd be very cute.
I've read a lot of Liz/Jo, and while I kind of ship it on principle, for some reason I'm just not feeling it the way I do Jo/Victoria. I don't know why. And I'm usually quite okay with Cliff/Jo, the novels notwithstanding; after all, she got the Doctor to behave himself, so Cliff should be no problem, right?

Although, for some reason, since then I ship Jack/Sarah kind of hard.
Anyway, as I've still only seen that wee handful of Torchwood, I'm not sure what I ship there yet (except Jack/Ianto and Jack/Tosh, because I trust your judgment about these things) but...see, Jack's funny in that I'll read him with just about anybody, and there are very few ships with him in them I actively dislike (I'm sort of turned off of Jack/Ten since so much of it is really, really bad), but there aren't that many ships with him in it that I seek out, either. The ones I'll go looking for are probably Jack/Sarah, Jack/anyone at UNIT (because they're all so repressed, the darlings, and I kind of want to see him team up with UNIT while he's stuck in the 70s and have them all go on adventures together even though I know he was working for Torchwood at the time. Wasn't he?), Jack/Donna (they'd get along so fabulously), and Jack/Four (no idea). And probably still Jack/Adric, especially if you wrote it. :D
But I'd not say no to the Jack/Ten/Liz/Martha foursome, either. :D

4. I'm kind of stupid OTP-ish for Two/Jamie, I'll just admit it - it takes a bit of mental navigation for me to ship either of them with anybody else, especially in a serious fashion. But I've read Jamie/Victoria as well, and I do think Jamie loved her (he just loved the Doctor more), and there've been a couple really good Ben/Jamie fics I've read (including a Ben/Jamie/Two). I kind-of ship him with Polly in a "I'd read it but I haven't found any yet" kind of way, and (as I mentioned in the reply to
Oddly enough, I can't ship him with Zoe; I like their dynamic so much better as friends/surrogate siblings.
