Hurrah! My computer's back from the dead ResNet, clean and without a wiped hard drive. Crisis averted!

Also, I now has a FireFox, since it's supposed to be a safer browser. It's very shiny and has a spellchecker and little weather bar at the bottom. Now all I need to do is find that plugin that translates websites into Fake Swedish and my internet experience will be complete.

After I catch up on comments and flist a bit, I won't be around too terribly much for the next week or so (with the possible exception of Wednesday or whenever Reading Day is), because exams are looming, and I've got to step up my performance on the Chemistry exam if I don't want to derail my entire Biology-major track*. Good luck to my fellow students during their exam season.

*Translation: I'll be on here even more than usual, desperately wasting time.

Oh, and because everyone else is doing it and, in spite of its occasional bouts of stupidity and fail, fandom's really kind of an awesome thing at the heart of it:

The Fandom Appreciation Meme: My Thread

Be sure to put up your own thread so I can tell you how awesome you are. :)

...I suppose I should unpack my suitcase from Thanksgiving now, shouldn't I? I probably should.

Woman! How did you survive this many years into the millenium without Firefox?? Even I got myself converted long ago without fuss, and I loathe change. It's, er, good that you have it now, at least. Welcome to the Cool Kids Club.

*snort* I love your "translation." Good luck on the exams of DOOOOOM! (oh, sorry, you only said "looming." Did I just make things worse?) Do you actually have mostly exams as opposed to ugly final papers/projets, or are you lucky enough to have a combo platter?

I am secretly a Luddite, is how I did it - I'm suspicious of free software for no good reason. I always imagine that, if it's free, it must be faulty or infested with viruses or something. I became less suspicious once I used it on the school computers without problems, but I had no reason to actually make the switch. And now I do. I'm one of the Cool Kids, hurray!

No, no, I may not have said it, but they're still exams of DOOOOOOOOM. I've only got one research paper to do; three exams, though. And two of them involve essays in some capacity. So...sort of a combination. But I think I can manage the two English exams all right. How's exam season look for you?

Ah, I see your point. Probably better safe than sorry, as a general rule. I switched mostly so my brother would shut up about how I was going to get all kinds of viruses if I kept using IE. Figured, "six of one..."

My exam season? HAHAHA. IT IS SO TERRIBLE I THINK I MIGHT DIE. For example, my two actual written exams + 1 (French) oral exam, that should require studying and which I would be happy to put the effort into studying for? Lost all semblance of importance in the face of my pair of 10-page research papers with accompanying 10-minute presentations, plus at least 3 or 4 smaller papers in there. Going to die, I tell you!!

*goes back to writing about Nubm3rs* Good luck completing your mountain of work. How long's your research paper? (I must say English exams almost look downright friendly by this point)

Your college doesn't install Firefox for you? Weird.

Good luck with exams!

No; they've got it on the school computers, but they don't make us install anything other than the anti-virus program. And I'm sort of automatically nervous at the prospect of any sort of free software (unreasonably, I know), so I'd never installed it until now.

Thanks, and same to you!

Hee, I've already installed it. It's one of the reasons I wanted FireFox even before I actually downloaded it. :D
