Things that I have accomplished today:
1. Went to bed around 1:30 a.m. yesterday/today, which is actually quite early for me. (It would have been 2:30, were it not for Daylight Savings or lack thereof.) Ended up waking up at 6:35, looking out the window and seeing the half-light, half-darkness, and experiencing a moment of panic because I thought I'd managed to sleep until 6:30 p.m. Which is not so good when you have a lab due the next morning.
Thankfully, my phone and it's little telltale "a.m." marker reassured me, and all in all it ended up being a quite relaxing morning. Only now I'm a bit worried that expecting myself to get up that early two days in a row might be tempting fate, and that maybe I should stay up all night to ensure that I don't sleep through Chem tomorrow. Yes, I know it's a bad idea. But I'm still considering it.
2. After the awful chill of the past few weeks it's become unseasonably (but pleasantly) warm again, so I went out with the vague intention of grocery shopping. I ended up walking over to the local coffee shop (not Starbucks! BETTER than Starbucks!) and grabbing my drug of choice. But since Coffee Shop is right across the street from CVS, I figured I should walk around a bit while I finished my drink rather than trying to balance a drink and a shopping basket.
So I ended up wandering out down Main Street, coming to the next little shopping center that seems to be slowly metamorphosing into a restaurant block, with a possible Italian grocery to come. There's a Fuel Pizza in that center that I'd never been to, despite living here for two years, and the drink was almost finished, and it was around noon, so I figured, why not?
So, combined with Day O'Shopping yesterday, that makes two spontaneous things I've done in a single weekend. I'm a wild woman. :D
3. The grocery shopping that I've been putting off forever: done. I has hangers. Perhaps now I can put away my laundry.
4. Put away my laundry. Some of it, anyway. Some remains undone, mostly because an unknown person felt the need to pen poetry, of a sort, on the wrapper my laundry comes in and I honestly don't know what to do with it. Apparently, other people have gotten this on their laundry paper too, so it's some sort of...program, maybe? Or project? I'm at a loss, and I feel bad just recycling the paper.
5. Headed off to lab. Turns out that we actually didn't have to retrieve our precipitate today; we were only supposed to weigh the crucibles. I didn't know this until my chem professor came in, saw me filtering the stuff, and stopped me. He commented that I must be very dedicated, which...dude, I wasn't even there Friday. Not for lack of trying, but still. Oh, and I'm pretty sure I'm failing. I'm flattered that you'd compliment my work ethic, but I don't think I've earned it.
Bless you, Chem professor. You're more patient with me than I'd be.
6. Managed some writing; see DIY NaNo report below if you care.
7. Still to go: Finish this lab, do reading/studying for Chemistry because there's another problem set due Wednesday aaaah, do Bio work so I won't have to examine five pathways Monday evening. Seems actually manageable, especially if I'm doing the all-night plan.
Managed about 500 words today, which is more than I've got out since that last fic. Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, it was 500 words of the fic absolutely last on the list of priorities, well below the two that actually have a deadline. So it goes.
However, outside of actual writing, I did manage to outline my Cliche Ficathon fic, pick a prompt for
dw_historical and drew up an outline for that as well. (My pick is something I think I'll be able to finish well before the deadline, thus leaving me time to pick the other prompt that I'd like to do but will require a bit more research on my part.) I shall make a concerted effort to focus on them for Daily Writing tomorrow, but even being able to write looks doubtful, since there are those five pathways and problem set to consider.
Still, I said I'd write something, and I wrote something. I don't know if I'm keeping it, since I find the characterization dubious on second read, but I was able to let go and not worry about that while I was actually writing. It's progress, I think.
Back to work; see you all in the morning.

Are you taking Chem 115? Is it impossible? Because I think I have to take it next semester. Or the next. Or the next. I haven't really decided. If I do take it, should I mos def NOT double up with another bio class? Can I stop asking questions now?
No, I cannot. How's life? I misses you from all the way down here in Costa Rica! And I enjoys your witty LJ ramblings. Except I just skip the parts about fics, because I don't understand them. Woo!

Life's okay - busy busy busy, since finals time is approaching and I've got tons of work to do that I'm, er, putting off. I miss you too! Costa Rica seems to be treating you well (I've got your latest e-mail, but haven't read it yet; I'll get to that soon), but how are things down there?
