Man, and I thought regular atomic orbitals were bad. Turns out they were the relatively good-natured younger cousins of molecular orbitals, who exist solely as page after page of incomprehensible formulae involving the entire Greek alphabet, which literally cannot be visually represented or they don't work. You just have to memorise the abstract math until you know the rules.

It's like finally learning how to read a textbook, and then turning the page to find that the rest of it is in Urdu or something.

Bleh. Once I get back form Chem help, today is Nap Day. And then yet another attempt to reboot my study habits into something that involves fewer all-nighters and less stretching assignments out to fill all available time.

Speaking of procrastination, every year I vaguely entertain the notion of doing NaNoWriMo before realizing that it's a bad idea and will remain a bad idea until after I graduate, but since I keep trying to get into the NaNo spirit in my own draft writing (i.e. freewriting, trying not to self-edit as much), I still feel like I should or would like to participate in the November madness.

Does anyone know if [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo is running this year? I think I could manage 5000 words in a month, even if it wouldn't be all on one fic. Failing that, I might attempt a ficlet-a-day or drabble-a-day; alternatively, I might just declare November "Finishing Memory Chapter 2 Month" and get the interminable thing done, for better or worse. That gives me a more solid goal than a simple wordcount, and as a bonus clears one of my more persistent writerly obligations and allows me to get to the far more interesting stuff happening in Chapter 3.

Of course, this is all completely ignoring the ficathon stuff, which I should really be warming up for even now, so perhaps depending on deadlines those will be my substitute NaNo project. Hmm hmm.

Really am trying to catch up on commentating, and on existing in general, but I have been reading, and wish you all good luck, congratulations, and best wishes, as appropriate.

[ETA] Okay, I've seen a grand total of three episodes of Supernatural in my life, I don't follow the show, and the lead actors' fandom, to be honest, scares me. That does not make Jensen Ackles energetically lip-synching and air-guitaring to "Eye of the Tiger" (while Jared tries very hard not to laugh in the background) any less glorious.

[ETA] Good news! Turns out we don't have to memorize the formulae for the orbital equations after all - we just have to know what they do. While that still involves a lot of odd-looking diagrams the function of which I am not certain of, it does make my life about 90% easier. Thank you, Chem professor!

You may have to give the mod a PM and ask. Doesn't look like it at the moment. Which is a shame; even with NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo (I was beginning to think [livejournal.com profile] news was being written in Judoon!) we could use some variety in the creative outlets.

It is a shame; I think NaArMaMo's still going around, but I don't know if it's got a web site or any sort of central organization. And it would be nice to have something to participate in for those of us who can't manage a novel in a month.
