Replies to comment, reviews of fics, and new and improved rantage shall come when I'm not trying to find a reason not to study.

Rules for player A: put player on shuffle and post first line (or 2) of 25 songs. Objective for whoever wants to play: name as many lines by song & artist as possible, without the help of Google. Strikethrough when people guess.

To make this game even more fun for myself, if/when songs are guessed correctly I'll add a line in italics about how it got on my playlist in the first place. :) If not guessed, I'll complete it in a week anyway, because this is my version of the game and I'm altering it as I go along.

I've got a lot of instrumental/lyricless music and foreign-language music here, so this might take more than 25 songs...oh, and most of my music has stupid and/or obvious lyrics.

[EDIT] Whoops, looks like I completely forgot about this. Well, may as well finish it now. Or rather, finish part of it now and finish finishing it later.

1. Don't cry to me. If you loved me, you would be here with me. Evanescence - Call Me When You're Sober - [livejournal.com profile] viralmancer Listening to Evanescence does NOT make me a tool. Shut up. I love this song because it's angry and bitter and a great song for wallowing in a bad mood. Plus, Amy Lee's voice is right in my range, so if no one else is around I can shout right along.
2. I've paid my dues, time after time. Queen - We Are The Champions - [livejournal.com profile] jeremybrettfan Like almost everyone else I can think of, this and "We Will Rock You" were my introduction to Queen. This is one of my favorite embarrasing-air-guitar songs.
3. There was a boy, a very strange, enchanted boy... Moulin Rouge Sundtrack - Nature Boy - [livejournal.com profile] elyle I first saw Moulin Rouge in about seventh grade, and while I didn't much care for it, I instantly fell in love with its soundtrack. It sounds even better now that I'm older and over the "love is stupid" stage that I was in back then. :)
4. Turn your watch, turn your watch back about a hundred thousand years. B-52s - Mesopotamia This is mainly on there because it's on the Time Capsule CD and I burned that entire CD onto my iPod. I love the B-52s and their cracked-out surreal surfer music, but this isn't a particular favorite of mine. I'll listen to it if it comes on shuffle, but normally I'd rather hear the next song on the list.
5. Radio operator to the tower: Debbie's coming in for a landing. B-52s - Debbie I hadn't heard this song until my uncle loaned me Time Capsule, but it quickly because a favorite. I have no idea what it's about, but it's so much fun to listen to. Good headbang song, too.
6. When I lay myself to sleep, pray that I don't go too deep. REM - Lightnin' Hopkins This falls in the same category as Mesopotamia - I love REM because their songs hardly ever make any sense but still sound awesome, but I have this on my iPod because it's on the CD Document and Document has a lot of other songs I like.
7. My gift is my song, and this one's for you. Moulin Rouge Soundtrack - Your Song - [livejournal.com profile] elyle Same as above. I barely listened to this song back when I first got the soundtrack, but now it's one of the darn cutest love songs I can think of, and is a permanent installment on my fluff-writing playlist. I think it was playing while I wrote Part 1 of Sleeping on the Couch, actually. XD
8. Maryanne and Wanda were the best of friends, all through their high school days. The Dixie Chicks - Goodbye Earl - [livejournal.com profile] elyle This one's kind of a long story. My mom was picking me up after school one day (again, seventh grade) and, as I got in the car, she said "Honey, there's a song on this CD you HAVE to listen to. HAVE TO." She's normally not that insistent about music, so I agreed. At first, I was puzzled - why was Mom so excited about a song where a woman gets abused by her husband? But then...then we got to the chorus. And as soon as the Chicks started singing "And it didn't take 'em long to decide...that Earl had to DIE," we both started laughing uncontrollably. This song, and that memory, still cheer me up.
9. I'm waiting for the night to fall. I know that it will save us all. Depeche Mode - Waiting for the Night I'm of the opinion that Violator is the best CD Depeche Mode ever made - there's only one song on there I don't like. This isn't it. This song sounds peaceful at first...before it becomes deliciouly creepy. :D
10. I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand, walking through the streets of SoHo in the rain. Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London - [livejournal.com profile] elyle They used to play this song every year on Halloween back at school, so I grew kind of attached to it. That, and back when I played the piano I was obsessed with learning the piano section of this song. Oh, and I'm a sucker for songs with wierd or offbeat lyrics.
11. You left me like a broken doll, in pieces as I took the fall. Biff Naked - I Love Myself Today This is another song [livejournal.com profile] pixxistixx4me introduced me to. I don't know where you found it, Pixxi, but this song kicks so much butt. It's loud, it's angry, and you can air-guitar and headbang to it *at the same time*. w00t.
12. Precious and fragile things need special handling. Depeche Mode - Precious - [livejournal.com profile] rainbowstevie I've been a Depeche Mode addict since [livejournal.com profile] pixxistixx4me introduced me to "It's No Good" way back in middle school, so of course I bought Playing the Angel (the CD this is on). I could listen to David Gahan sing pretty much all day. Also, this is a *great* song for writing angst. XD
13. I come home in the morning light, my mother says "When you gonna live your life right?" Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - [livejournal.com profile] rainbowstevie Oh, come on. What's not to love about this song? It's bouncy, it's happy, and if you sing it karaoke nobody really cares how bad you sound.
14. When the outside temperature rises, and the meaning is oh so clear. Queen - I'm Going Slightly Mad - [livejournal.com profile] elyle I'd never even heard of this song when I bought the CD it was on, but it's one of my favorites now. I just can't not like a song with lyrics like "I think I'm a banana tree" and "It finally happened - I'm slightly mad". Haven't we all had days like that? XD
15. Whatever happened to Saturday night, when you're at the job(?) and you felt all right? Meat Loaf (from Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack) - Hot Patootie Bless My Soul Hearing the Rocky Horror soundtrack will always take me back to that Halloween where we all sat around watching it together - scaring the daylights out of Cain as we did so. His terrified face when Dr. Frank-n-Furter came onscreen was the highlight of my evening.
16. When the world ends, collect your things, you're comin' with me... Dave Matthews Band w. Oakenfold (from Matrix Reloaded sountrack) - When the World Ends I like the sountrack to Matrix Reloaded more than I like the actual movie. I've never heard the original version of the song, but Matthews' voice meshes really well with the quiet techno background. The background is also more subtle than techno-remix backgrounds usually are - it actually sounds very nice on its own. And it's another calm/creepy song. I like those. :)
17. Turn it inside out so I can see the part of you that's drifting over me. Michelle Branch - Everywhere - [livejournal.com profile] rainbowstevie I've always liked Michelle Branch, even though this song became annoyingly ubiquitous when it first came out. Her songs are always so sincere and honest and full of feeling. Oh, and she rarely belts or does showy things with her voice - she just sings. I don't mind vocal gymnastics, but Michelle's kind of refreshing without them.
18. I was good, I could talk a mile a minute. All this caffeine buzz I was on, we were really humming.
19. You can like the life you're livin', you can live the life you like. You can even marry Harry but mess around with Ike.
20. Fear me, you lords and lady preachers; I descend upon your Earth from the skies.
21. In the middle of the night, I go walking in my sleep.
22. Particle Man, Particle Man, doing the things a particle can...
23. Come on closer, wanna show you what I'd like to do...
24. I'm gonna wake up, yes and no.
25. When you grow up, live it like a good boy oughta.

Would you believe I had to go through almost 80 songs before I got 25 with lyrics (or at least, lyrics that weren't chanted and that I could understand)?
