stunt_muppet: (Sam is loved)

Not as extreme or serious as "oh, bitchcakes", but the same basic sentiment.

For some undefinable reason I've got that urge to write a Law and Order/Doctor Who crossover again, just to prove I can. I am currently biting back the urge to write it because a)it's not like I don't have enough on my plate and b)it would probably suck.

But L&O binges plus Tennant's adorable awards-ceremony pictures make me want to write it very very badly.

I know what the basic premise would be. I know which characters I want to use (Nine, Rose, possible Jack, Briscoe, Greene, McCoy, Borgia). I even have a few lines worked out, although the only one that actually sounds good went as follows:

Jack: ...so, unless you can get me a copy of the Martian penal code, there's not a lot I can do for you.
Doctor: ...I could, actually. If you'd give me a moment.

I wanted to write it as involving Nine and Rose because Nine does not get the fandom lovin' he so richly deserves (actually, I'd really like to write it with Four, but I haven't seen nearly enough of him to write him well), but for some reason all the dialogue in my head sounds like Ten and Martha.

But I'm not writing it right now so it doesn't matter. *sits on hands*

I am currently uber-excited, in spite of the fact that every project ever is due in two weeks. I am excited because not only am I getting a chance to rework my short story (and not at 4 am this time), my Creative Writing class got to sit down and talk personally with an author who I wasn't familiar with going in but I now very much admire. I even got to speak to him one on one. It was thrilling, and it really got me inspired to work on my original pieces again.

More on that this weekend, as I've got quite a lot of work to do right now and I'm almost out of my Allotted Internet Time today. (Note: Cutting back is hard. I'm more of an addict than I thought.)

Also, does anyone have an mp3 of the original Black Sabbath version of "Supernaut" they'd be willing to let me sample? iTunes has a bunch of covers for it, but I guess Black Sabbath isn't in the iTunes library because the original isn't there. (At least, I don't think it is, because when I tried to download "Iron Man" all I found was the Ozzy Osbourne Live version.)

Granted, they do have the Ministry cover thereof, and the 30-second sample of that cover sounds very cool, but Ministry kind of scares me, so I'd rather hold off on that until I know how the original sounds. (I just figure I should be careful downloading this kind of music after I got rather more than I bargained for on that KMFDM song. Of course, if I'd done ten seconds of research I'd have known what I was getting into, and it's not that I don't like the song, but still. Discretion pays.

Also, while I normally quite enjoy VSQ covers, the String Quartet version of "Supernaut" loses something in translation.

Would anyone be willing to do the same for the original Beatles' version of "I Want You" and "Helter Skelter", too? I want to hear the originals before I go after the Dana Fuchs "Across the Universe" version. (Pixxi, those versions any good?)

Craving Doctor Who and Muddy Buddies really bad right now.

Back to work.

Music:: 30-second sample of "Supernaut"
