1. With regards to that last post: The teacher okayed my topic! Today, I shall get my research done and construct an outline, so I won't have to do everything Thursday night. But not until I've finished Bio Project. Which I'm actually working on now.

It feels so strange and wonderful to get things done ahead of time, guys. I should have started doing this sooner.

2. Wait wait are cliche-swap ficathon entries really due on Sunday? It doesn't feel like it's been 28 days! Crap, I'm not even close to finished and I've got three big school assignments due this week and I can't default on this ficathon too and aaaaah. *flails*

THIS IS WHY I DON'T SIGN UP FOR THINGS.

3. Does anyone feel like explaining to me precisely what Twitter is supposed to be? It hasn't shown up so much on my flist, but it's all over my friendsfriends, from what I can tell. Is it some form of mobile posting? How do all those individual posts end up in one entry?

4. One way of motivating myself to do my work early is by promising myself rewards for completing assignments. Yesterday, my reward was [personal profile] kayliemalinza's copy of The Keeper of Traken.

More detailed thoughts/meta blathers/stuff to follow later, but for now suffice to say that it was very good and I was quite pleased with it.

At the end of episode four, after the credits, there's a clip of Anthony Ainley, standing in front of a black background, giving the screen a sort of wave/salute, saying "Thanks, guv," and walking off. After he exits, an "In Memoriam" text appears on the bottom of the screen; since he's on the commentary track for this episode, I assume he must have died at some point between the recording and release of the DVD. It ends the story on a bittersweet note, and I have to admit it choked me up a little.

Or rather, it would have, if I'd been paying attention throughout the credits. Instead, I was reading something as they played, and looked up just in time to see there was SOMEONE ON SCREEN OUT OF CONTEXT WHO WASN'T THERE BEFORE AAAH. It took me a moment to even register it as Ainley.

Look, I have this thing about characters standing against black backgrounds and addressing the camera, okay? Even if they're not particularly threatening I always get that fight-or-flight jolt, like they're about to come through the screen and kill me. Not to mention they lit him from below for his post-credits goodbye, which is the quick-and-easy way to make someone look evil.

Once I figured out what was going on I found it appropriately sad, but...[personal profile] kayliemalinza can testify that I jumped.

Anyway, I look forward to listening to the commentary track. Perhaps if I get enough accomplished today, that can be my incentive.

Although perhaps my incentive should be finishing my ficathon entry, heh.

Back to work.
